Quietly she sits
waiting for the day
when true love will find her
upon its narrow way.

He has been shown to her
his name a whispered sound
upon her ears were mentioned
though it wasn't said real loud.

She had to strain to hear it
to make out each refrain
and then upon her lips
she spoke out his full name.

Come hither to her now
before she slips to last
or then you'll only know her
as a being from your past.

She knows you are her future
and she knows you just can't see
what is laid before you
could fill your heart with glee.

Don't take to long to claim it
the love she has for you
because with wasted time and bits
a part of her will refuse.

The wait will seem forever
but for you may seem so short
don't let her find a lover
when she only builds a fort.

To keep away the sadness
that you force upon her soul
as you just ignore her
while she's no longer bold.

Her life will seem so helpless
as she quietly slinks back
into the whole world of darkness
and the sadness is so black.

What an intriguing talent you possess!

a sad testament...

...to the fragility of relationships. Time is indeed the enemy, and these little tales of yours point that out so well. I should have read all your poetry first, hon.
