Within the Kiss.

I will tell you the soul is nearest
To the surface at the lips,
Where it rises, breathing over
Bright, swollen pink skin,
Breathing of its own accord,
Burning of its own desire.

You want that I would kiss you,
Your mouth lingering at my mouth,
Knowing that what we will hear there,
Is our hearts beating their own poetry
Of blood as it rushes through, while
Our bodies beat out the rhythm.

Here, at the tips of our twisting
tongues, where we are curious to taste
the sweet wetness, the rising heat,
here, I will tell you, show you how this
is where, like fire licking at our insides,
the soul is nearest to the surface at our lips.

Why is it...

...that by the time I get ready to comment, others have already stolen the one thing I wanted to say???? The first two lines kissed my soul! Too good!

What they said....:D

Lovely. Especially the first lines.

(I don't use the thermometer. Is simply left at default and does not reflect my vote)

Soft, full

and rhythmic....like the kiss you describe. Lovely read.

Very nice

I loved this opening.

~I will tell you the soul is nearest

To the surface at the lips,

Where it rises, breathing over

Bright, swollen pink skin,

Breathing of its own accord,~

That's both beautiful, true, and very sexy.

I like the language style you used and how you stayed just on the edge of graphic descriptions teasing the reader in and them letting them make their own picture.

A really nice, sexy, piece of work

Thank you
