Yes you’ve seen the new me,
And I’d give it all up for a chance.
I’d stop filling my time with time wasting activities.
If you'd give me just one second of romance.

The weekends I fill
With mountain walks, rides and rain
Are insufferable excuses?
To hide all the pain.

The exercise I take,
Day after day filling my body mind and soul
Full of scenes of beauty and awe, peaks and valleys,
Are just to fill this expanding hole.

I’ve seen you, the new you,
You’re disappearing away, filling your life with kids and motherhood.
No harm, but one day they will be gone,
Cocking the balance of the greater good.

And when I say, “I love you,”
And you reply, “I know you do.”
Is it so distasteful?
To just say “I love you too.”

So I’ve seen the new you,
And yes you’ve seen the new me.
Why is it so hard to see I’m just filling all my time?
Till you and I are ‘WE’
