You open the door to your place,
You see her shining face,
She looks at you with eyes of love,
Her greeting joyful, like a dove,

In a flash the hall is empty,
No one is there to greet you,
You are alone.

You sit at the table with your meal,
She sits across from you, so real.
The dinner chatter is so lively,
You see her face beautiful and smiley,

In a flash her seat is empty,
No one is there to eat with you,
You are alone.

You sit on the couch watching the news,
She snuggles into your arms and mews,
She offers you a spoon of ice cream,
Her uplifted eyes are like a dream

In a flash the couch is empty,
No one is cuddling with you,
You are alone.

You climb into bed and hold her tight,
Holding her warm body close with all your might,
Your legs entwined her hair smells sweetly,
Together you succumb to sleepy,

In a flash the bed is empty,
No warm body lies beside you,
You are alone.

You wake up in the early morning,
Her eyes smile, the coffee is brewing
She hands you a mug and sits beside you,
Another day, together you will see it through,

In a flash she is gone,
A memory, of a time before it went wrong,
You are alone.

The look in her eye,
The memory makes you cry,
I will love you forever,
She said in a whisper,

Promises not kept, feel like lies,
Every day another piece of you dies.
The shards of your shattered dreams
Scattered around you, cutting you, making you scream

She is gone,
You hang your head,
You don’t want to cry,
You feel like you are going to die,

You are alone.
