You told me to trust you,
so I did.
You told me to believe in you,
so I did.
You told me you loved me,
so I loved you back.

Only you forgot...

You forgot to tell me that it was all a lie.
You forgot to mention that you didn't mean any of it.
That your beautiful words meant nothing.
That your promises were empty.
That your love was a lie.
That you were using me.

I'm sure you meant to tell me.
It probably just slipped your mind.
Better late than never.
Now I know.
Thank you for that.
Now I can pick up the broken pieces of myself
of what's left of my heart
of my soul
and crawl into the corner
alone.

Damaged.
Bent.
Broken.
Twisted.
Burned.
And just wait.
Wait for it to happen all over again.
Wait for the next blow.
It's coming.
It's just a matter of time.
I hope I picked up all the shattered pieces of myself.
I'd hate for the next person not to be able to do a full job of damaging me, too.
Don't get me wrong, you did such a fine job.
Magnificent.
But you could do better.
Wanna try again?
Lie to me some more.
I'm ready this time.
