I dreamed last night that you were here
Slumbering softly beside me
Your warm skin alive to my touch
Nestled in the hollow of your shoulder

Your measured breaths counted the minutes
The rise and fall of your chest
The wonder of being skin to skin and heart to heart
With you

My hand on your chest, clasped in your hand
We look like dancers when we sleep

Our legs intertwined one over the other over the other
Who could tell where we began and left off
Which of us really cared to know
Who was who and what was what?

The scent of your body drifted into me
That warm, unidentifiable smell that is you, sleeping
Never have I been more certain of a thing before
Than that you were here last night

ah yes.

I once had the pleasure of that dance

in nightful nights of life and love

in the dreams that came I truely lived

my hand by her heart by mine

I left my love on her pillow

as a token to remind

now who ever sleeps there now

has to adjust the pillow to avoid it.

funny too that in those days

I covered her bed with chocolate and roses,

live and love and love your life;

your dance a gift to all

thanks for the reminder
