"This brings many things," the goddess said, "I did not have milk such as this to give to Dakhete when she was a babe. This came to me after, just before my daughter was to leave me. I ached to have something to give to her to keep her alive. Weret Hekau came to me and this is a way to give a little of my spirit, but other things come as well, such as my blood lust.

Have a care that you are not provoked too easily or you will have trouble stopping yourself if you must kill. But as I was saying," she smiled as she held Yasmin's face with one hand, stroking her cheek softly with her thumb, "Dakhete was no taller than you then, so I think that it is what you feel. You will likely grow a little, and more," she grinned a little, "And this, I can already see for myself."

She reached to touch Yasmin's nipple and the girl hissed from the sensitivity of it. "Look down, sweet one, I believe that you will be at least a little pleased."

Yasmin stared at the goddess and then she looked down. When she looked up again, she almost squeaked in her joy. "I have ... tits!"

The others all laughed. "Well the pain must be passing," Khyan grinned, "or this is much more important than feeling as though one is dying." He thought a moment, "I guess if you grow breasts in a few minutes instead of months it must be something."

"It is,"Yasmin smiled as she wiped her tears from her face, "Do they, ... are they nice?" She reached to cup them in spite of herself. "They are hardly a handful, but I love them."

"They suit you well, "Dakhete smiled, "Not huge -- if they are done for now -- but just right for you."

Khyan agreed and Yasmin suddenly found that she could bear the pain of her legs and joints a lot more easily.

-------------------

They returned to the temple where the others waited. "I feel as though I am walking on wooden blocks," Yasmin said, "I feel a little unsteady."

"You will get used to it," Sekhmet said, "and you have very nice breasts now."

"I am so happy," Yasmin said, "You cannot imagine what it is like to see all of the girls around you with breasts and you have none."

"I cannot imagine," Sekhmet said, "but I can remember how it was to hear someone's plaintive bleating every day for hers to grow." She nodded toward Dakhete, who looked back a little sheepishly.

"Really? It was so?" Yasmin had trouble fathoming it.

Sekhmet leaned down, "Less than you."

"No!" Yasmin said, "It is not possible."

"Well," Dakhete grinned, "At least you had puffy nipples. I lacked even that."

Khyan leaned over to whisper, "I liked your puffy nipples. I stared at them in the dark every night. Twice, you fell asleep as we talked in the dark courtyard from training with Piankh so hard. I had the courage to kiss them a little while you slept. I know I should not have, but I could not help myself."

"I know," Yasmin smiled a little shyly, "I was not asleep."

Khyan was shocked, "I am so sorry, I thought -- "

"It was all that I could do to hold still and pretend to be asleep, Khyan. I did not dare to move. I wanted you to touch them so much, but, I did not think that you would want to."

If the others noticed the difference on Yasmin, other than her new height, which placed her very close to even with her companions, they didn't give voice to their observations, though Maahes' glance said a lot as they all sat to eat and talk. Dakhete learned that Maahes would be coming with them and she was pleased at the news.

"You need to change your training," Apedemak said, "There will be three friends going. We know that Khyan knows something of the sword, but he is better with the bow from his hunting to feed himself in his travels. See to it, Dakhete, so that he is prepared, and train him in longer running as well. Train him more than he has gotten to this point."

Khyan groaned as Yasmin told him that she looked forward to having someone else leaning against Piankh as they tried to catch their breath. "I know that I wanted this," Khyan said, "and so I am ready to begin."

"I am a little disgusted at how ready you sound," Yasmin said with a smile, "and so I look forward to seeing you kneeling next to me to throw up our breakfasts of bananas together while Piankh laughs at us both."

"Wait, before you plan this so thoroughly," Dakhete smiled ruefully, "I will run with you often now. I will tell Painkh to get more bananas."

"I am coming to hate them," Khyan said.

"I don't know," Yasmin smiled, "They do have a nice shape."

"So you have what you needed from Sekhmet, "Weret Hekau said, "Wedjet has added to it as she could. There will be certain differences in yourselves that you may notice. You will be much closer to what lies within," she smiled as her hand moved languidly in the air for a moment, "Can you feel that?"

Khyan stared at the others as they looked at each other. Both of them now looked as the lioness goddesses. They looked back and forth in amazement. "But ... we are not gods," Dakhete said.

"No, but you both have enough of the gods in you for this," she turned to Khyan with a smile, "Do not feel slighted, Khyan. You wear your own gifts."

Khyan looked down at himself and saw nothing at first. But looking carefully revealed a lot more physical tone which had become apparent. He reached for his face and his fingers bumped into his nose. He felt the tip of a tooth and curled his lip to feel it better. He felt whiskers near his nose.

"What, ... what am I? What have I become?" he asked.

"Even more wondrous," Inpewt smiled. Anubis nodded beside her.

Khyan felt his face for the whiskers once more and he found them, along with his short fur. He gasped and looked down.

He was covered in dark grey fur. "See Anubis," Inpewt smiled, "You look as he does."

When he looked up, he saw her friends smiling at him, "You are ... beautiful," Yasmin sighed.

"And stronger, and as far as quickness goes,"Wedjet grinned, "think of the fastest hound, and you will have that speed. Use this as you need it, and you may keep your bananas where they belong -- in your stomach. This is what was meant that you need to train this part of you now.

What you see in your friends is only what has always been there, though only Dakhete knew of this before she was caused to forget everything. All of you can go farther toward your beast nature, so far that you can become as the beast, though no beast ever had such ability to reason and even speak. You will find that you can summon this as you have need. It will always be with you, and it makes Khyan's life grow longer now, free from the shortness given to a Djinn child whose father was a human."

Anubis and Ari-hes-nefer stood and went to retrieve a large sack from the corner as Mut and Tefnut cleared some space on the table. The sack was deposited on the table with a loud assortment of clanking sounds.

"Choose what suits you," Ari-hes-nefer said, "as gifts from Menhit and myself. If you decide to change anything, this will always be here for you. Only return what is no longer wanted and take what is. Once you have found what you prefer, please keep it always." He threw back the corners of the sack and all manner of weapons gleamed there in the light of the torches.

"Yasmin may chose anything that she wishes, but not a sword. Apedemak has brought a gift for his lovely daughter, "Menhit smiled.

Yasmin looked to the side and saw Apedemak come to her. He held out a rather plain-looking scabbard. "It is a little heavy to begin, "he said, "but you will find that it grows lighter in your hand as it comes to know you until it will feel like a part of your arm. It cannot be drawn in absolute silence, I'm afraid, for it has a wish to make its presence known. If you have need of silence, then draw it slowly with one finger on the blade and it will be silent."

He smiled, "It sings always as it is used."

She gripped the haft and drew it out. A metallic ringing came from the blade. Even when she held it still, the blade rang on, though it was almost silent then. When she gripped the long blade carefully, it stopped, but it began once more as soon as she took her fingers away.

"May I, Father?" she asked, and he nodded as he stepped back a little. Yasmin rolled the sword in an overhand motion as Piankh had taught her to do to get the feel of the balance and to unlimber her wrist and she grinned a little as the blade sang to her as it moved, no matter which stroke she used.

"Squeeze the haft with your last finger a little more," Apedemak suggested. When she did, the ringing song ceased as it became the quiet rush of the flame which ran from the hilt to the broad tip. The flame was extinguished when she eased up with that one finger.

"May it protect my daughter always," he smiled, and she was in his arms a second later.

"I seek to become more of a father to my girl and I know that I come to this very late," he said with some quiet emotion, "This sword, I forged myself, putting all that I could into it. My friends helped as they could. I have not made it ornate, for you will have to carry enough on the road without having a jewelled sword to add to it all. Use it wisely and well, and may it mark a beginning for us on your nineteenth birthday."

Yasmin looked at him with a wet smile, "You knew? You remembered?"

"Always," he smiled, "though this one is the happiest of them all for me. I was always sad on this day of the year."

And so, after a little more talk, the three friends prepared to leave, well-fed and armed. "Maahes will take you back," Sekhmet said, "that is, if he can ever get his hands to stop bringing food to his face."

"Half a moment," Maahes said as he wolfed down the last of his food.

"A word to all three friends, though hopefully not to Khyan," Bast said quietly to them. "I sometimes dote on my son," she admitted, "but I have never coddled him. He was raised by me to treat females well, but underneath everything, he is as much the consummate warrior as Apedemak and the other males could make him, for he is schooled in all of their deadly arts.

I truly cannot say who his father was, for I was seized with want one night, and I coupled with Apedemak, Amun and Menhit lent me her male, Ari-hes-nefer after she had heard my want to make a child. I was serviced by them all for three days. Sekhmet alone was at my side when I birthed him and both she and I have been his mothers in the raising of him. If things go badly, he will not stop killing until it is over. He truly is the Lord of Slaughter, for he is my son.

But that is only if the spirit is roused in him," she smiled, "in all other matters, he is gentle.

He wants to travel with you, and I am not blind to his heart or yours. I can say that he has watched you with Sekhmet and I in Meroe and he admires you all and will travel with you regardless, but you may find that, well, males and females have a way of doing what they do," she said with a smirk, "That is how I came to have him, after all.

If that happens, I can say that I would love to have a grandchild, but more importantly," she said as she looked each of them in the eye one at a time, "Do not try to keep him when another of you wants him. It is only natural that you may find that you enjoy each other, but to do this would divide you and that is not what Maahes would ever want. He understands your friendship."

She leaned a little closer, "Also, he sees how you are to each other. Another thing about you all which he admires, for he has never been a male who is not secure within himself. Neither Sekhmet nor I would have allowed it. Also, the changes which your father spoke of, Yasmin, they will be present in Maahes too. When his part changes after a time of loving with any of you, then know that his godseed comes soon after that. You may couple all that you like until this happens.

You may only couple perhaps three times with him that way, and then it comes to you on the fourth, surely. Remember to keep the count if you love with him one after the other. We are all females and you should know these things. After the fourth time, if he has need, then please him in other ways if you wish for no cubs.

"Wait," Yasmin said, holding up her hand, "I admit that I know little of all of this -- as yet. But how many times do we speak of here that we must all keep the count? I have never heard of something like this. You speak of being careful after so many times, and then counting as he changes? How -- "

Bast's kind smile made it so hard not to love her. For one famed to be so deadly, it was clear that when she liked someone, they knew their good fortune at once. Now, she held up one finger.

"My son is not a human male."

She smiled a little enigmatically as she let that sink in for a moment before another of her fingers rose before them.

"My son is a god.

If you do not count and there is an egg free in you, then I will gain a grandchild. Until then, if it is your wish -- any or all of you -- then enjoy him, but remember also that he shares some of the lion nature and may seek a mate for long. Be warned, and come to see us when you are ready to leave."

"You say that Maahes could be my ... half-brother?" Yasmin asked.

"One chance in three, you have of that, pretty Yasmin. What of it? Think how many Pharaohs took their sisters as wives. Will this stop you if you find a want for him in you?"

She laughed a little, "Your eyes have ceased to glow red now, but if you can stop that want -- after what you have received from Sekhmet this evening, then I will bow to you, for you surely must be stronger than a goddess inside. If it were me in your place and I was not his mother, I would be the first to take him inside of me and be glad of it. Do not think of it at all," she said, "One in three. Better to join your Kandake in her pleasure with him."

"Our ... pleasure?" Yasmin was a little shocked, now that this was sinking in. "I - I have one for me, Goddess," she said, looking at Khyan, and hating that she'd had to say it here like this, "I waited for when I am old enough, and that has happened."

Bast rolled her lovely eyes skyward. "You as well? Why not play a board game such as senet with him instead? Do you hear this, Dakhete? You may have a fine male all to yourself. I know that you will know what to do with him."

Dakhete only nodded with a tiny smile.

They thanked Bast for everything and nodded their understanding as they walked to the doorway with Najmah to wait for Maahes. "I do not think that I want any of this coupling with Maahes," Yasmin hissed to her teacher, "He is wondrous, but I think of myself as Khyan's already. It is what I wish for him and I."

"Then be his," Dakhete hissed back, "We all make our choices. I belong with two lovers, but I will speak to them if I am given a chance at a god as well. And there is something here for you to think about, Yasmin. You have suckled at the breast of a goddess and my mother has warned you of what may come. All that I will say is that more than blood lust comes with that milk."

"Today is my birthday," Yasmin whispered.

"We know," Dakhete hissed back, "we plan our own celebration when we get back. I have asked for wine and beer to be gotten somehow from somewhere. Piankh has seen to it if I know him."

"I do not know about the wine," Yasmin said with a smile, "what I mean to say is that I know that I will enjoy it, but I would enjoy it more if there were naked servers. I mean, living ones."

"Did we get the serving girls?" Dakhete asked Khyan.

"No, Mistress, "he said sadly, "there were none to be found. Perhaps when we have more people in Meroe."

Dakhete sighed, "That is a shame. Yasmin will have to be happy with us then."

Yasmin giggled a little, "As I hoped, the serving girl and boy that I wished about for so long."

After a moment, she looked at Dakhete, "What did Bast mean about the part of her son which she mentioned? I think that I know which part, but, ..."

"I know," Dakhete replied.

"Well, can you tell me as well?" Khyan asked.

"Think on how cats mate," Dakhete said, "I am sure that you have seen the way that lions do it."

Yasmin didn't know what was meant, so she listened intently, looking back to be certain that Maahes wasn't finished his food yet. He was, it turned out, but he was speaking with his mother and Sekhmet at the moment.

"I have seen this, "Khyan replied, "They mate often and long when it is the time for that."

"And what have you noticed about the way that it ends between them each time?" Dakhete smiled a little, "Even little house cats, how does that end?"

"Well," Khyan said as he thought, "I only watched with a little interest. They make a lot of noise, the female, mostly."

"And what does she do, right at the end?" Dakhete asked to direct Khyan's memory of it.

"She, ... well, she yowls." Khyan shrugged.

Dakhete shook her head, "Right -- at -- the -- end?"

Khyan's jaw dropped a little, "She .... She screams. They all do."

"What Bast meant was that his ... thing, as we all seem to call it, changes to become more like the cat. Have you ever seen that part of a cat?"

"No," Khyan admitted. She turned to Yasmin, "Have you?"

"As though I had the time to watch for that when cats fucked in the streets," she said, but then she grew quiet, "No, I never have. Why?"

"Because, "Dakhete grinned a little evilly, "that part of a male cat has a ring of many little points on it."

"Ooooh," Yasmin shivered, not liking the thought of it.

"Well, it cannot be too bad for the girl cats," Khyan theorized, "since they hold still for it and arch their backs to receive it from the boy. And they do it -- quite a lot."

"But they scream at the end," Yasmin objected, "you said so. It probably hurts them."

"Or they probably love it," Khyan smirked, "remember, they do it all the day. Many, many times, over and over. It cannot be too bad. I doubt that it hurts them at all."

"It probably hurts them AND they love it," Dakhete nodded with a grin as Maahes approached.

"I am sorry to have made you wait," Maahes smiled as he stopped, "We may leave now."

He looked at them, from one to the next. He wasn't sure, but it seemed to him that the ones which he was not looking at were looking at his waist.

"Have I spilled food or something?" he asked as he looked at himself.

"Not at all," Dakhete replied with a smile, "We were only admiring your long legs."

"Oh," he said, wondering as he raised his arms and they were gone.

--------------------

In the temple behind them, Sekhmet came to stand with her arm around her friend Bast. "I heard what you said," she smirked, "one in three."

"I did not lie," Bast replied, "I said that I truly do not know."

"No, you do not know from your head, but your heart knows, as does mine. How many hours have we spent, Bast, only watching and thinking as he grew, looking for traits and signs? We both know and we have always agreed, once we saw it all. Apedemak is the father of Maahes."

"It matters not," Bast said smiling, "There are two fine females for our son. Surely he will take one before the end of this task. I would be happy to have either of them for his heart."

"You have always limited yourself in how you perceive things, "Sekhmet grinned, "I have always told you that if you wish for something, then take it and be done."

"I listened," Bast said, "You and I are so close that we might have been sisters. I listened to what you told me. That is how I came to be a mother, as I wanted it and when I wanted it."

"That is not what I meant," Sekhmet chuckled, "but you have it rightly, and we are closer than sisters. My life changed the day that I saw you. We have always been as twins, sharing everything from sorrows to joys. What I meant was that I think that if Maahes decides it, he will have them all, even the boy if he wishes it. We just do not know for how long."
