He looked over Maggie's shoulder to Bill, who gave him a silent nod. His look was knowing; he wouldn't try and stop Kit.
"Want some company, son?" he asked, but they both knew Kit would refuse.
He needed time alone, needed to feel the cold air biting his cheeks. His heart was pounding from the revelations of the past hour; the surge of energy from the girl in the yellow dress that had knocked him off his feet; his heated talk with Jonathan that had led to him admitting he was in love with Lena; and now Malcolm's release from prison. He couldn't wrap his head around it all. All he wanted was to wrap himself around the one person that made him feel sane and forget his troubles, just for tonight.
But where was she? Where was Lena?
Taking a torch from the little shelf near the door, Kit pulled up his collar and set out into the night.

The chapters are a little too short and the writing style can sometimes confuse as to the setting/location of the story, but I do want to read the rest.
When will the next one be posted?
