Accidents Can Happen for a Reason Ch. 02

She worked hard and was almost considered brilliant, sometimes losing herself for days in a project, forgetting to eat and sleep until it was finished. So different from my methodical, measured approach to my job. She could be distant for days and then I would wake up in the middle of the night and find her blond head between my thighs kissing and licking me to a sudden intense climax. I hardly ever knew what to expect, sometimes coming home to find her fast asleep hunched over her laptop and other times happily preparing an evening meal, ready with a glass of wine and a kiss. I was her calming influence and she was the fire in my heart.

She was confident and certain of herself. Never once did she doubt her own sexuality and was scathing towards people who didn't understand. Sometimes, when I was having one of my periodic crises about people's perceptions of myself she would hold me, her blue eyes intense on mine,

'Relax about it Alex. Sexuality doesn't create a person; it's just part of the way we are. And love is still love and I'm eternally grateful for that.'

She dragged me out running and I taught her yoga. She tried, rather unsuccessfully, to win over my father and step-mother and I tried to imagine that I didn't care about what they thought anymore. When she finished her PhD and became Dr Hamilton, Tom and Maggie presented her (tongue firmly in cheek) with a white coat and stethoscope...which she used to great effect on me! We both changed jobs, she to a medical equipment manufacturer and I finally set up the legal practise I had wanted for so long with a couple of colleagues. We were happy, successful and very much in love. Nothing could burst our bubble.

Until something did. Something was to happen that would turn our lives upside down and cause me to try and ruin the best thing in my life.
