BBW: The Prose Of The Plump

As I come into Literotica and look across the categories I see almost every one of my favorite subjects is represented. There's BDSM, Mature, Horror, Loving Wives (well more or less on that one), Erotic Couplings and a couple of more. I will not go on because my interest cover a huge list. However, I note one of my favorite categories is sadly absent, and that would be BBW.

BBW?

No, not Bucharest Business Week or Build-a-Bear Workshop. I'm talking Big Beautiful Women.

Now with so many other categories such as Bi-Male or Cuckolding either considered a sub-genre or a cast aside no-genre, why would I feel the need to point out that big girls need their own category?

Well to me the answer is pretty obvious, and in fact it is in front of our faces most of the time. Here in North America as well as in many European countries the BBW reigns supreme. Every single day I am surrounded by BBWs. Their either outright BBWs or BBWs by default due to the fact that there is a narrow margin as to what is considered to be just the right and desirable size. That old standard makes women with maybe just an extra pound or two have the perception that they are fat and everyone else, all the other "normal" people think they're fat. So if there is some exacting weight, in one way or another, the scales seemed tipped that most of the women in industrialized nations would be considered BBWs.

The right and desirable size?

Well, for me, we're usually starting around at least 250, and that would be if I judged a person on their physical dimensions alone. There's so much more to a BBW than some number on the scale.

In my own view, and granted this is my perception and not an absolute fact, BBWs make up around 80% of the women I come into contact with on a day to day basis. I live in an area driven by tourism that has its fair share of visitors from overseas, mainly Great Britain, France and Germany. So if such a large percentage of the population is made up of BBWs it would mean that BBWs would be the most versatile group of women out there.

In my own experience I've met the shy and the romantic. I've met the selfish and self-centered. I've met kind and generous. I've met slutty and wanton. I've met ditzy and stupid. And I've met thoughtful and intelligent. And of course these are a few things, the tip of the proverbial iceberg, of what a Big Beautiful Woman can be and are. The truth is they are just like anyone else, have all the qualities and failings of any other group, although they tend to be overlooked as perhaps the object of a passing fetishist. Stereotype says they're all mousy and shy and virginal.

Well I say fuck the stereotype.

If you've never been with a BBW then you're in for a real treat. The most passionate lovers I've ever had were all BBWs, and I have went the range from the total stereotype of what most people would believe a BBW is to the most wanton and unremorseful slut. In fact I was only with one girl I would consider outside the BBW range completely, and she was borderline anorexic and not too comfortable to be up against. So, yeah, I'm a more cushion for the pushin' type of guy.

There is quite a bit of BBW appericiation out there. I have seen quite a few other erotic story sites with either categories or searches devoted to them. A good 95% of adult sites I have been to either feature BBW photo galleries or movies. And there are so many sites devoted to BBWs alone I could not even begin to count.

The term itself came from someone feeling the need to appreciate the "full figured woman". Carole Shaw it is said came up with the term around 1979 when she created 'BBW Magazine', which was, and is to this day, a fashion magazine devoted to plus sized women. Since then it has been a term used to lift the status of those who do not fit into the norm, although from my point of view they are the norm.

Yes, I know. They call men like me chubby chasers and plumper pleasers and adipophilies. I will accept that, knowing that a good portion of the male population, and some of the female as well, are right along with me.

I have even had comments from both sides of how people feel on the subject since I began posting on Literotica. From day one, once my short story Descent To Venus was posted, I received an outpouring of e-mails thanking my for writing about them and showing them not as that stereotypical virginal good girl but as someone capable of having a one night stand with someone who finds them desirable. I have been asked many times if there would be a continuation, so at least among the BBW readers of this site there is interest in seeing stories about them.

Now I did have a comment to let me know that the reader was disappointed because I did not say exactly how big one of my female leads was. It was kind of an ambiguous comment, which I am not sure if it was a compliment on the story as a whole or not, but it did give me the impression that the male reader was on the look out for a little something more visual. So with each submission since then I have made an effort to really give better descriptions of my female leads.

On the other side of the scale I had an angry reader let me know I turned him off with my description and giving the weight of the female antagonist from my short story Aimee Is EEE-Z. He let me know in no uncertain words that his was disappointed and turned off, demanding to know why any writer would want to turn off the reader. I looked on his profile, in which he admitted that he was an overweight nerd and that was probably why he did not have a girlfriend. My take on that was the reason he does not have a girlfriend is that he somehow believes a supermodel, and not someone in his own size range, would want to be with an overweight, self-admitted, nerd. Not that it couldn't happen, but you know, it does lean more toward improbability than implausibility.

So, in an effort to make sure all those overweight nerds dreaming of waif models wanting to get it with them do not end up turned off by my work, I have since either put BBW in the title or description of my stories so that it is plain that the reader is aware I write about big girls and for big girls. I do add BBW as a tag for almost every story, though I think that having a BBW category would make things much more convenient.

I think about the most valuable piece of advice I was given as a writer, and can pass along to anyone else, is to write what you know. I know Big Beautiful Woman. My mother was a BBW. Nearly woman I've ever dated or had intercourse with was a BBW. Most of my female customers at work are BBWs. In town most of the women I see are BBWs. And I have been married to two BBWs, although the first one is a GDFBBBW (God Damned Fucking Bitch Big Beautiful Woman), and the second is no less than a kind and shy submissive goddess walking the face of the earth.

So if you know BBWs and not waif models write about them.

I will continue to write about them. Four of my favorite creations are all BBWs: Heather Ford, Kitty McClain, Betty Wallace-Whitman and April Snow. Since they are all part of ongoing stories I will continue to write about them as well as adding new BBWs, such as Kim who narrates A BBW Clean Up On Aisle 69. And I promise that other than their relative size that none of these women will be stereotypes or cookie cutter characters, because in fiction as in life BBWs cover a broad range of temperaments and personalities.

So do we need a BBW category? Well I for one think so, and I am sure there are many more who would like to see one as well. I think that if there were one that many female writers would come out to offer their own insights and experiences as Big Beautiful Women. I am also willing to bet that those stories would make for some of the hottest and sexiest erotica that most of us have ever seen.

Until then, or even if that day does not come, I will continue to write in a variety of categories, although focused on creating several new and unique BBW and SBBW (Super Big Beautiful Woman) characters. I will continue to put "BBW" in the titles of stories and poems which mainly focus on BBWs. And I will keep putting them in the descriptions and tag lines so that those are hunting for them know they are there.

At least I will until there is a category of the pretty and the plump.
