I stared up at him, wishing that it was true. Then I dropped my gaze. "Thanks again."
His hands slid off my arms and I hated that I felt no relief at the loss of his touch. I turned and went back into the tent, refusing to look back though my every instinct told me he was still watching me. "He's gone to get you medicine, Tippin."
"You shouldn't have done this, Rhys. Do you have any idea how much trouble they are going to give us for this?"
"Who is, Tippin?" I sank to my knees at her side and stared down at her. "Explain this to me."
I felt her sob and saw her head shake against the pillow. "You should just go. They haven't collared you yet. Go and don't quit running, Rhys. Please!"
"I...I can't leave you here, not like this."
She sat up though I could tell that it was agony for her. "Then bring me a knife from the mess tent. Bring me the knife and then go!"
Please I really need to know how the story ends.
