Looking up at the ceiling Jason wondered just what he got himself into, he looked over at the woman lying next to him. A slender red-head that he'd stupidly gotten drunk with and had sex with the night before was gently snoring.

"Guess that's what they mean by living above the influence."

Jason had no intention of letting this go anywhere, no, in every sense of the word Jason Burgalli was an asshole. He had the looks to pull it off, and boy did he pull it off. With wavy black hair and eyes that gave you the impression of steel Mr. big man on campus walked around as if he owned the place since before he could walk. Now in his second year of college Jason's impression of himself hadn't quite changed. Jason surrounded himself with the best of the best. He was never an outright ass to anyone, but it was there with a subtlety that one had to take time to finesse. And he was never nice to anyone unless there was to be something in it for him sooner or later. So nudging the woman beside him none too gently he attempted to wake her

"Hey,Hey, listen It's time for you to go."

-Well, normally there was finesse- half asleep, Grace peeked from under one eye and unceremoniously rolled from his bed. It was no secret that Grace had been eyeing Justin for the better part of two years, and she really had her sights set on keeping him. He fit all her criteria: Sexy, athletic, rich, and amazing in the sack.

"Last night was fun, how about a repeat performance of just how important it is to stretch before extraneous activities?"

Smirking he thought about keeping her around, just for the sex, the night before had certainly been fun, but that wasn't his style.

"Listen last night was great, but I don't see anything coming out of this."

She looked about ready to slap him, but he had to hand it to her she held her own. Pulling on her jeans from the previous night . Grace was no idiot she knew how Jason operated but it wasn't going to work with her. Not with what she knew about him. Grace had other plans and she was going to get Jason one way or another. But for now she'd let him think this was all they had together.

"Well thanks for last night, I'll see you around."

Pulling on her shirt, she saw herself out and shut the door behind her. Surprised, Jason was kind of intrigued, most girls tried to poke and prod for more. Frowning at the thought of anyone intriguing him he got up to wash up. Jason Burgalli didn't get intrigued he was practically an impermeable wall when it came to anyone other than himself, but he did have one soft spot his one and ONLY softy spot. Gabby Jenkins. Gabs. Gabby had been his neighbor and best friend from the time they were born and she still was. She was the only person that knew Jason inside out and upside down. Gabby was his best friend and there was nothing he wouldn't do for her. She was a year younger with a graceful quality about her that made people stop and admire. With a slender five foot eight frame brown eyes and soft brown skin Gabby was beautiful. She also wasn't afraid to go toe to toe with Jason which he found to be one of the best things about Gabby. She wasn't afraid to tell him he was wrong, or he was being an asshole.

They could discuss anything and there was never the fear that they would hurt one another. Jason and gabby talked at least once a day something he made a point of when she got accepted to the same college as him. He didn't run in all the same circles as Gab, but that didn't stop him from keeping tabs on her. She was his best friend but the way he looked out for Gabby he wouldn't have corrected someone should they assume he was her big brother. Smiling as he brushed his teeth it was him and Gabby against the world, so he couldn't figure out why this week Gabby hadn't responded to any of his calls texts or his messages on Facebook and hadn't been in her dorm when he stopped by. Jason had even gone so far as to contact her friends. He was growing worried. Gabby always responded within moments of his texts or calls, and if she didn't she always made it a point to call back as soon as she could. So he decided to drop by her dorm again, it was Sunday and Gabs was always at home on Sundays. All he knew was she better damn answer because he didn't like to be worried.

Gabby was exhausted, and really, she just wanted a little time to herself, and Sunday was just the day to do that. It was the day of rest after all and rest was what she needed. She deserved it, she had studied her butt off for all of her exams and was pretty sure she passed them. She had done her required reading for all of her classes and then some. So the last thing she wanted was to deal with Jason and his "checking up on her" she wanted to sleep for days and most of all she wanted some distance when it came to him. She didn't have to talk to him every damn week. Ever since she had been accepted to college he had been checking in on her, so that meant no drinking no hardcore partying and that for damn sure meant no guys. Quite frankly he didn't have a right, she wasn't dating him, he wasn't her brother and the way she wanted him a brother was the last thing she wanted Jason to be to her. College was supposed to be where you got to experiment and go crazy. With the way Jason breathed down her neck, with the weekly calls, and the random drop ins "just to see what she was up to", she was lucky if she could have the occasional drink with friends. The way Jason carried on was enough to drive saints to murder, but in truth she was usually okay with Jason and his big brother routine. Jason was a jerk to a lot of people but he cared about her as only a brother could. That was the problem though, he wasn't her brother and lately she needed to get out and get a little crazy. With everything going on, the school year coming to an end and her rapidly changing ire towards Jason it was getting to be too much. So she was going to sleep and she'd talk to Jason when she very well pleased. Closing her eyes she smiled to herself she was feeling as if she had a semblance of control over her haywire emotions. Almost as fast as Gabby drifted off to sleep, she was awakened. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM! Jerking from her state of rest Gabby sat straight up. Jumping out of bed and barely having time to don a pair of shorts, she ran to the door. Looking out the peephole she almost would have laughed if she wasn't so pissed. Jerking the door open revealed Jason leaned against the doorframe wearing the khaki shorts she'd bought him for his birthday last year and a blue button down with his white boating shoes smiling as if he hadn't just been pounding a hole in her door. Seething Gabby was going to let this boy have it

"Have you lost your mind!? What the hell is wrong with you, pounding on my door like you don't have any sense!? You realize people sleep here right?"

Seeing Gabby angry was one of those things that confused Jason about her, she who was supposed to be his "kid sister" the girl who cried every time she watched A Walk to Remember and made the dumbest jokes, and napped on her porch swing every summer, yeah, that girl was the girl he knew. But when Gabby got mad, she looked every part the grown woman. It made him wonder just how long Gabby was going to continue to fit in the kid sister category he put her in. Brushing past her and into her dorm, heading towards her kitchen he plopped down on a barstool and let her have it. Because honestly he should have been the only one angry.

"I don't give a fuck who sleeps here Gabs. You weren't answering your phone, you didn't reply to me last night on Facebook, and every time I stopped by here this past week you haven't been here, so I thought I'd pay you a visit. Because normally I don't have to contact other people to try and get a hold of you. It almost seems like you're avoiding me Gabs, so I came to check up on you."

If Gabby wasn't already mad enough she could have spit bullets right about then.

"Just where do you get off Jason? Hmm? I can do whatever the fuck I please! Go wherever the fuck I please! Whenever the FUCK I GODAMNED PLEASE! It isn't your job to check up on me because we don't talk for a week!"

Gabby tried her best to reign in her temper because she hated to get mad and she really hated to yell it only her feel bad later, so she was going to try and reason with him one more time. But really he didn't get it. It was some sort of sick torture that he inflicted on her being her best friend, making her laugh, making her want him, and not actually being able to have him, and touch him as she wanted to. Gabby knew full well how he treated other women, and she wasn't stupid enough to assume that he would treat her any different so she needed to distance herself from Jason. If only to grow up a little. Gabby needed to get over this pathetic thing she had for Jason because it wouldn't get her anywhere.

"Jason, I am twenty years old, I am more that capable of taking care of myself. I know you think I need you to but give me a break okay. You checking up on me is not a necessity. In fact I really wish you would stop."

The truth was Jason liked checking up on Gabby; it made things easier. He liked feeling like she still needed him like when they were kids. He liked to hear about what mad her laugh everyday and who pissed her off in class. But mostly it kept the lines and roles between them clear. If he kept checking in on her she still felt like his kid sister and he still felt like the big brother. Gabby was growing up too fast. He couldn't keep the guys away for forever. And more and more lately he was not so sure he was going to be able to stay away from Gabs himself. Every time she fell asleep on his chest while they watched and old episode of Who's Line is it Anyway he got this odd sense of calm. When Gabby got sick and stayed over his apartment it felt right taking care of her, it always had, but things got so confusing when they would hang out at the pool and he felt himself get rock hard at the sight of her climbing out of the pool like some fucking water goddess. Things stopped being as clear when one too many times he found himself getting off and his mind would conjure up an image Of Gabby naked with her mouth parted in a perfect "O" shape about to scream in pleasure. He was not always sure what was happening between them and most of the time he brushed it off, but she didn't need to avoid him for no reason. Things just weren't right when he didn't hear from Gabs, so she was just going to have to get over him checking up on her because that's what he was there for.

"Oh, well."

Well if there was one thing that made gabby go nuts it was his cavalier attitude about how she felt. Giving him a look that said okay, I got your "oh well" she stalked to her room slammed her door and locked it. Tonight wasn't the night, and she wanted sleep. Knocking at her door Jason almost sounded pathetic .

"Gab, com'on open up."

"I just want to sleep Jason, I want to sleep and not think about you for once, I just want to go to sleep okay."

Frowning, Jason shook his head. He didn't know what was wrong with his Gabs the gabby that never stopped smiling, and what did that mean anyway, "go to sleep without thinking of him"? Gabby was always his number one, and when she was upset or hurt he was the one she went to, so why not now?

"Alright Gabs I'll let you sleep, I just don't like it when I don't hear from you, okay."

He raised his fist to knock again but stopped short, he'd let her rest, but this wasn't over. Walking out of her dorm and closing the door to her dorm he thought; this wasn't over, nope not by a long shot.

C'mon!!!

Don't be one of those annoying writers that write an amazing first chapter and then never finish it. This story has the potential to be #1 on the IR Toplist. Dig deep. You CAN do it.
