It's Time Ch. 15bysecrecy456©
Hey everyone sorry it took so long to post this chapter. I hope you all enjoy it and thanks for the feedback and support.
Alexis gulped softly as her turn came around. She looked down at her hands and wiped the perspiration that began to form in her palms. Her heart began to beat faster as a bucket full of adrenaline was dumped into her nervous system. Her eyes shot towards the door on the far side of the room. I can make it if I jump over the woman sitting across from me, she thought to herself. As soon as the thought crossed her mind she could feel the silence in the room as everyone's eyes shifted towards hers. The age of the women ranging from teenagers to women who had lived for decades. The youth sat curiously awaiting Alexis to open her mouth and tell her story while the elder women sat proud and securely, hoping that some of their strength would move forth inside of Alexis. She rose from her seat and smoothed down her shirt.
Clearing her throat she smiled weakly. "My name is Alexis Jac-... I mean Williams. And I have been...."
Alexis trailed off into silence as she felt the tears come to her eyes. She'd never spoken aloud of the suffering she'd endured with Terrence. She looked down at her hands once more and thought of the scars she'd bared from his torture. Looking up she was startled to see one of the older women standing in front of her. Her withered skin displayed a deep scar that trailed from her hairline around her ear and to her lips that were now formed into a smile. A burn mark lay across her neck, but instead of hiding it she wore it proudly for all to see. She raised her hand and wiped the tears now falling from Alexis's eyes.
"It's okay child we are family here. Speak to us."
Alexis nodded her head and spoke with strength in her voice. "My name is Alexis Williams and I was in an abusive relationship. As a result of that I lost a....my child. But I'm stronger and I'm a survivor."
The women rose up out of their seat and they each came over to Alexis to hug and speak words of encouragement with her before they settled back into their seats to congregate and talk with one another. Alexis smiled and felt as if the weight of her suffering were truly over. She sat back down and sighed and the older women from before came and sat next to her. Alexis smiled shyly as the woman grabbed her hand.
Alexis turned to her and pulled her into a hug. "Thank you for that."
The older woman smiled. "Child we've all been abused here so there are no secrets between us. I was abused for the majority of my life from boyfriends, to my husband of forty years. It's what we choose to do after that reflects how strong we truly are. I chose to live."
Alexis nodded her hand in understanding. "I chose to love."
The older woman laughed. "Let me guess he made you come to this meeting?"
Alexis rolled her eyes. "You know him well and you haven't even met him yet."
Alexis continued to talk with the woman until their meeting was up. The women had walked in with shame, but now they walked out proudly. Instead of pain they felt triumph for being strong women. Some of the women were greeted by their significant others, while some were greeted with family and friends. Alexis smiled as man who looked to be in his seventies came up to the older woman beside her.
"Alexis, this is my angel Rupert."
Alexis grabbed the hand in front of her and was surprised by the strength that still survived within it.
"Nice to meet you dear."
His sweet blue eyes held years of power and laughter as he looked down at her. Alexis smiled at him as she thought of her own angel and her heart began to long for him. As if on cue she felt strong arms gather her from behind as Steven rested his head on top of hers. She fell back into his embrace gently coveting the warmth she felt pouring off of him. He kissed her neck and turned her around to face him.
"Did everything go okay honey?"
Alexis nodded as he placed a kiss on her lips. "Yes I feel...better."
Steven smiled broadly. "I told you."
Alexis shook her head and laughed. "I guess that means I owe you. I want you to meet someone."
Alexis turned around was shocked to find the space empty in front of her. She frowned and looked around the entire room. Steven pulled her to face him.
"Baby, is everything ok?"
Alexis nodded absently as she walked over to the woman in charge of holding the meeting.
"Excuse me could you tell the name of the older woman I was talking to?"
The woman looked at her with a puzzled expression. "There was no older woman. You were sitting by yourself."
Alexis shook her head. "But what about when I stood up..."
The woman shook her head again. "No you were by yourself. Is everything ok?"
Alexis nodded and turned coming face to face with a picture of the older woman she'd supposedly been talking to. Next to her stood a man who looked exactly like the man she'd just spoken to. Underneath the photo where the name's 'Rupert and Patricia, Founders of the Strength Organization'. Alexis reached out her hand and touched the photo gently.
Alexis smiled and chuckled. "Thank you."
The photo seemed to grow warm as she said the words aloud. Turning she walked back towards Steven and laughed.
"Baby you sure everything is ok?"
Alexis nodded. "Yes, now take me home cowboy. I want you to love me until I can't move."
Steven picked her up and grinned. "Yes ma'am."
Nathan walked into the doctor's office and a sense of dread and doubt began to take over. He signed in with the nurse at the front desk and went to take his seat. Looking at all the people around him talking and laughing with one another he felt lost. His attention turned to one couple that sat closely in a corner of the room. He rubbed his hand gently across the woman's stomach and whispered in her ear. Nathan felt a pain of envy go through his heart. He wanted to give that to Grace; he wanted her to know how much he loved him. How she made him feel and how he wanted to spend the rest of eternity with her. A nurse came over and tapped him on his shoulder. He looked up into her smiling face and nodded as he was led back into a room. The nurse walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. Nathan looked around and stared at the white walls that went on forever. He should've brought Grace with him, but he couldn't bear to see the disappointment in her face if this didn't work. The door opened once more and Nathan grinned at Matt walked into the room.
Matt chuckled. You're just jealous because I have twins and you don't have any children yet.
I plan on having triplets.
Matt shook his head and became serious. Are you ready for this?
Nathan nodded. I have no choice.
She's going to love you no matter what.
I know she will, but I want to give her more than this.
Matt walked over and pulled Nathan into a hug. No matter how this goes she's going to know how you feel about her.
Nathan nodded and Matt pulled away as the doctor came in with a series of nurses. Nathan had already been in a few times to be fitted for the rest of the equipment that came with the cochlear device. One of the nurses came and placed the microphone device right behind his ear and placed a chart resembling various levels of volume in his hands. Nathan felt himself growing nervous as the moment of realization became closer. Another person stepped forward and began signing.
I'm audiologist Dr. Fulzer and I'll be mapping your device and determining the volume level for you.
Nathan nodded and became aware of the stillness that had taken over in the room. The audiologist walked over and made sure the microphone was secured behind his ear and then placed the speech processor just above his ear on the back of his head. The audiologist then connected the implant to a computer and looked at Nathan.
You ready for phase one?
Nathan nodded and took a deep breath. He jumped slightly as he heard a faint beeping noise. Everyone looked at him expectantly and he motioned towards the smallest bar on the volume chart. The audiologist tried again and Nathan heard the beep once more, but it was stronger in volume. Nathan pointed towards one of the larger volume lines. The audiologist signaled Nathan to get his attention.
Is that level of volume uncomfortable?
Nathan shook his head. No that's fine.
The audiologist smiled and disconnected the device from the computer and moved to sit in front of Nathan.
Now what I just did was helping you to find a comfortable level for you. I'm going to activate the device and turn it on for you to hear us, but I don't know what you're going to hear. It may be overwhelming at first, but once you learn to decipher sounds you'll get the hang of it. Now I'm going to turn it on and we'll be quite for a moment, but then I'll start talking to you to see if you can hear me.
Nathan nodded. Can my brother speak to me instead? It's not like I have nothing against you, I'd just like to hear his voice first.
The audiologist smiled and nodded. He rose and moved behind Nathan to turn the device on. The room was quiet as the audiologist silently moved back to stand in front of Nathan. Nathan turned to Matt and looked at him expectantly.
"Nathan...can you hear me?"
Nathan looked in wonder as the vibrations from Matt's voice moved towards his ear. Everyone looked at him trying to gauge whether or not he had heard Matt. He couldn't understand what he was saying, but he heard the deep baritone of his brother's voice. Nathan felt tears come to his eyes as he nodded. He broke down and placed his hands in his head as the sobs wracked his body. Matt came over and pulled his brother into his arms as they both cried together. Nathan lifted his head and Matt sat on the floor in front of him.
He began to sign and talk at the same time. I knew you were a cry baby, but this is over-kill.
Nathan threw his head back and laughed as the tears continued to flow down his cheeks. His own laughter a foreign sound that he would have to get used to.
You sound so weird. He signed to Matt.
Matt wiped the tears from his face. What do I sound like?
Nathan grabbed the tissue from the nurse. You sound like you're muffled. I can hear you, but I don't understand you.
Matt smiled. As long as you can hear me that's all that matters.
Nathan ran his hands through his hair and sighed. Don't tell Grace about this.
Matt tilted his head. Why?
When she finds out that I can hear, I want to be able to understand her. I want us to talk together, not just her talking to me.
Matt nodded and rose from his seat. Whatever you want and I'll be there every step of the way to help you.
Nathan grabbed his brother's hand, he was thankful for the man his brother was.
"No Alexis! Capital 'N', 'O'!"
Alexis smiled softly as Steven jumped out of the bed and paced across the floor. He ran his hands through his hair as he began to rant out loud.
"It's dangerous Alexis! I don't want you to feel that way again...no telling what I'll do...."
Alexis rose up on her knees and moved to the edge of the bed. He came over to stand in front of her and she pulled his face down to hers.
"Steven I have to do this. I don't want the past to affect us."
Steven shook his head. "Alexis I don't want you anywhere near that man. I may kill him and then I'll be stuck in prison! Is that what you want?!"
Alexis laughed. "Baby let me do this, you said you'd do anything for me."
Steven hung his head in defeat as she said those words. "Alexis, honey, please see where I'm coming from. That bastard deserves to rot, he doesn't deserve the forgiveness. If I could I'd torture him my damn self!"
Alexis looked deep into Steven's eyes. "If I don't forgive him, that means I'm still holding on to the pain. I don't want that anymore."
Steven kissed her, pulling her lips deeply into his as he claimed her body and soul. "Let me at least think about it."
"If I promise to be your love slave will you say 'yes'?"
Steven looked at her. "Baby this is serious. That weak, fuck beat you Lexi, he beat you! The least he deserves is my foot up his ass. He doesn't even deserve to gaze upon you!"
Alexis smiled softly. "Have I told you how much I love you?"
Steven growled and moved away towards the dresser. "I'm going with you."
"I may end up becoming one of the prisoners myself, but it's what makes you happy."
Alexis laughed. "Steven I know you wouldn't risk incarceration. You can't survive two minutes without me."
Steven turned to her with fire in his eyes. "You're lucky for that woman because that'll be the only reason he'll be allowed to keep breathing in my presence."
Nathan laughed happily as the roaring sounds of the world around him assaulted his senses. The noises were uncomfortably overwhelming, but just to be able to hear was a blessing in itself. Matt led him towards the car and Nathan was temporarily thankful for the moment of silence. He couldn't wait to differ sounds from each other. Most of all he couldn't wait to hear Grace's voice whispering in his ear, her laughter, her moans of passion as he loved her body. He felt tears come to his eyes again as he thought about all the things he was going to enjoy. All the things the hearing community took for granted, he was going to savor each sound.
Matt turned him around to face him. You okay?
Nathan nodded and smiled. I'm just thinking about how our child is going to sound. I'll get to hear her cry, I'll get to hear her laugh. I'll be able to tell her how much I love her and I'll get to hear her say that to me. I get to talk to Grace, actually talk to her!
Matt grinned as he started the car. The deep rumble of the engine startled Nathan and caused him to laugh even harder. His happiness overflowing at the wonder of everything.
You may change your mind about the crying part when it happens.
Nathan shook his head. I'll savor every cry that pours from my daughter.
How are we going to hide this from Grace?
I'll take the device off and leave it with you when I'm not doing my therapy sessions. Everything has to be perfect when I hear her for the first time.
Matt smirked. Why do I have the feeling you want to surprise her while you guys are....
Nathan grinned wickedly. Because the first thing I want to hear her say is how amazing I am in bed.
Matt laughed and took off in the oncoming traffic. Grace may not know it, but she was in for a hell of a ride.
"No Greg they want to spend time together....without us."
Greg popped out of the suitcase he was packing. "Dad doesn't want us anymore?!"
Tyler zipped his bag up and sighed. "No they're just going to spend grown up time together."
Greg wrinkled his nose. "Are they going to 'do it'?!"
Tyler ran over to his twin and covered his mouth. "Ssshhhhh!!! Grandma might hear us!"
Greg turned red at the thought. "Well are they? That's what Marcus said. He said that when they get alone they 'do it'. He saw his sister doing it."
Tyler's curiosity peeked. "Well what did he say they do?"
Greg looked around the room and ran to the door to make sure no one overheard. "Marcus said he saw his sister and this guy kissing and doing a lot of hugging. Then she started making weird noises."
Tyler's eyes widened. "Ewwwww!!"
Greg nodded in agreement. "I know, right? But that's not the worse part. If they do it a lot they end up having kids."
Tyler's eyes widened in horror. "I'm never going to do it."
Greg held his hand out. "Let's shake on it."
Tyler shook his brother's hand and then punched him in the arm. Greg did the same and the brothers smiled at each other. But Tyler quickly lost his smile as he thought about the day he kissed Rachel on the cheek and the next day he'd given her a hug.
"Greg I think I've already done it!"
Greg stared at Tyler and shook his head sadly. "You're going to have a baby."
Tyler ran out the room screaming at the top of his lungs. Jackie ran from the kitchen with Brian hot on her heels. Tyler jumped into her arms with tears running down his face and Greg was pulled into Brian's arms. The grandparents looked at each other in confusion trying to figure out what had upset the boys.
Jackie smoothed Tyler's hair. "Honey what's wrong?"
Greg lifted his head. "It's terrible."
Tyler blew his nose on the tissue Jackie gave him. "I did it!"
Brian looked in confusion as Greg jumped in. "Now he's going to have a baby."
Jackie laughed softly. "What?!"
Brian grinned. "Calm down and tell us what happened."
Tyler wiped his tears. "There's this girl at school I like...."
Jackie smiled. "And...."
"And one day we were talking and I gave her a kiss on the cheek. The next day I gave her a hug! Now I'm going to have a baby."
Brian shook his head. "That's not how you have a baby."
Greg nodded. "It is to! Marcus from class said so!"
Brian ran his fingers through his hair. "No it's not. Trust me babies are made in a whole different way."
The boys stopped crying completely and turned their attention to Brian. "Will you tell us?"
Brian cleared his throat. "Well when two people love each other very much-"
"Brian don't you dare!"
"Don't you 'honey' me! We are not going to tell them that! Now boys go upstairs and finish packing and Tyler you're not having any children."
Brian sat Greg down and whispered in his ear. "We'll finish this later."
Greg smiled and laughed. "That was a close one wasn't it Tyler?"
Tyler nodded. "I'm not hugging anymore girls."
Jackie snorted as they ran back upstairs. She turned her attention to Brian and glared. "I can't believe you were going to tell them."
Brian shrugged. "They need to know about the birds and the bees. Or else Tyler will turn into Nathan and think that his manhood is going to fall off every time he has an orgasm."
Jackie threw back her head and laughed at the white lie she used to tell Nathan and Matt. "Well it worked in Nathan's case. As for Matt he was as wild as you could get."
Brian nodded. "Yeah his should've fallen off by now."
They turned as the front door opened revealing Nathan and Matt. Jackie rushed forward and looked from Nathan to Matt. "Did it work?"
Matt looked at Nathan for permission and then turned to Jackie and nodded. She covered her mouth as excitement overtook her.
"Oh my God. You can hear me?!"
Nathan laughed and nodded. Jackie jumped up and down and clapped her hands as tears rose into her eyes. "My baby can hear me!! Brian he can hear me!!"
Nathan grunted as Jackie rushed him and pulled him into a hug. She held his head and kissed his face over and over.
"Wait until Grace finds out! Oh she's going to be so happy!! I can't wait to tell everyone!"
Nathan looked to Matt to see what she was saying. Matt signed to Nathan. She's happy about you hearing and she wants to tell Grace.
Nathan panicked and grabbed his mother. No mom, Grace can't know. I don't want her to find out until I'm ready.
Jackie looked at him in confusion. But why?! This is what we've been waiting for!
I know mom, but I want everything to be perfect when she finds out I can hear her.
Jackie frowned and sighed. Whatever you wish, but I don't think she'd care about how perfect the moment is.
Nathan nodded. I know she wouldn't, but I want to make it perfect for her. She deserves it.
