Jenny and Dr. Thomsbymemorable_event©
This is an original work of fiction. All the characters and the Circle K farm were created by me and any resemblance to actual living or historical people is unintentional. The story is set in the famous bluegrass country of Kentucky. The thoroughbred breeding farms mentioned are actually there.
I normally have a very qualified editor check my work. But I just recently learned of the Earth Day Contest and had to put this tale together quickly to get ahead of the deadline. So, any errors in this story are totally mine and I apologize in advance for them.
I hope you enjoy it.
The phone rang at 4:30pm and Janet, as usual, answered.
"Stewart and Jackson Veterinary Clinic-how can I help you?"
"Janet, this is Donna, I have a little problem."
"Hi Donna, what's wrong?"
Donna replied, "Our foreman, Jimmy, found three of our cows and one bull with what we think are the beginnings of pinkeye."
"Ok, at least we're catching it early. That stuff spreads quickly so we need to jump on it right away. How many head do you have?"
"Well, if we need to vaccinate the entire herd, we're talking about 15 bulls, 475 cows and about 350 calves."
"Wow, I keep forgetting how big an operation you have. Are the infected ones isolated?"
"Yes, Jimmy has them corralled next to the front barn and the hands moved the herd down to the back quarter till we can get them all sorted out. Can Dr. Stewart or Dr. Jackson come out first thing tomorrow morning?"
Janet replied, "Unfortunately, Dr. Stewart has to be at Three Chimneys tomorrow to examine and vaccinate their new foals and Dr. Jackson is going to be at Churchill Downs giving a training course. However, we do have a new doctor in and, believe it or not, he did his residency at Penn's New Bolton Center."
"My goodness! Dr. Jackson has been trying to get one of those doctors for years. How did he manage to do that? Those guys don't come cheap."
Janet whispered, "Can I call you back from my cell phone?"
"Sure." They hung up and Janet walked outside to the parking lot and called Donna.
"Hey Donna, the new guy is Dr. Matthew Thoms. He just walked in when you and I were talking. Anyway, as I was starting to say, Dr. Jackson just paid the money necessary to get him. He told me that this guy is critical to the future of our practice. As you know, Dr. Jackson is now in his 60's and he is just not as fit and capable as he used to be. So we now have three large animal vets and our normal staff of four small animal vets.
"I think that's great, Janet. Can Dr. Thoms come out tomorrow morning?"
"I think so, he was planning to go to Three Chimneys with Dr. Stewart just to meet the owners and see the stallions. You have a more urgent issue so I will ask him to be at your place by 8:00. By the way, just so you know, Dr. Thoms is the most handsome man I have ever seen. God, he is gorgeous. Every woman here has the hots for him no matter if they are married or not. It is getting embarrassing with the ladies trying to out do each other bringing in cookies, pies and cakes. If he gave any indication of interest in any one of them, they would be on the floor with their legs spread in two seconds."
Both women laughed.
Donna responded, "OK, thanks for sharing that. Maybe I better lock Jenny in her room tomorrow."
"I didn't know Jenny was home."
"She decided to take a leave from the law practice in Philly and come home to help out while her dad is recovering."
"How's Dave doing?"
"Well, the chemo is working, or so it seems, but he is tired and has little appetite most of the time. That cancer operation took a lot out of him and it will be a while before he's back to normal. He can hardly get out of the house and that's just killing him. He loves his cattle and this farm more than anything and all he can do right now is sit and watch others do the work."
"We've all been thinking about him and how much burden that puts on you. I'm glad Jenny could come home for at least a little while. But I agree with you, if she gets a good look at Dr. Thoms, she might not be much more help to you. She will be following him around everywhere."
Donna replied, "Jenny does have a boyfriend in Philly, or so she says. We've not met him yet and I am beginning to wonder if it not one of those friends with benefits situations. She really doesn't talk much about him, to us anyway."
"Well anyway, I will talk to Dr. Thoms and send him out there early."
"Thanks very much Janet. You guys are always a big help to us and we appreciate you."
Janet walked back in and went to Dr. Thoms' office.
"Dr. Thoms, we have a minor emergency out at the Circle K. They have a large herd of the finest black angus cattle in the country and their foreman has found what he believes is pinkeye in a few of the cows and one bull. We've been their vets for more than 25 years. Can you go out first thing tomorrow and see to them?"
"Sure Janet, I was just going to tag along with Jack to Three Chimneys but that can wait. Can I find them with my Garman?"
"Yes, I'll get you their address."
At 6:30 the following morning, Matt headed out to the Circle K. It would take at least an hour to get there, according to his Garman. It was a beautiful summer morning and a light mist hung over the small streambeds and valleys along the way. The grassy fields behind the gleaming white board fences glistened as the sunlight played off the dewdrops.
He drove past Calumet and stopped for a minute to watch several of their foals chasing each other around the pasture. With any luck, maybe one of them will be a champion in a Triple Crown or Breeder's Cup race in a couple of years.
Matt loved everything about horses and he really enjoyed being around the women who loved horses. While he adored the ladies and enjoyed the many sexual encounters he had, that special person had just not come into his life. But he was still young and in no hurry to make a mistake. Still, it would be good to find a life partner.
While he drove, he thought of his two years at New Bolton and several of the women interns and residents who also worked there. He remembered the night that Cindy knocked lightly on his dorm door. He finally awoke enough to hear the persistent tapping and he put on a robe before opening the door. Although they had worked around each other, they really hadn't had taken the opportunity to get to know each other. He was surprised by her visit.
She stood there, wide-eyed and almost looking like she was scared or embarrassed as she bit on her lower lip. She was also wearing a robe but still had on makeup and her hair was obviously clean and fresh looking. He invited her in and she hesitated but then entered. He closed the door and pulled a chair from the desk for her to sit. She apologized for waking him but said that she really wanted to talk to him about a problem she was having.
He said that he would be glad to help, if he could. Cindy explained that her boyfriend, who was still a student at Penn, just dumped her and that she was devastated. She had thought that they would be married one day. She went on to say that he was the second really serious boyfriend that had left her and that she was worried that something was wrong with her. She then started crying.
Cindy regained her composure and said that all her girlfriends blamed everything on the guys but she wasn't so sure. He tried to console her and say all the right words but it finally came out that she was worried about her skills at sex. She thought that maybe she was doing something wrong when she had sex with them but they just wouldn't tell her for some reason.
He thought he could see where this was going but decided to let her keep talking. After a few more minutes of tears, Cindy just came out and asked if he would have sex with her and then honestly tell her what she was doing wrong. She explained that since they really didn't know each other so well, that he would be more honest with her than the other guys had been.
He reached for her hand and she stood. He asked her to sit on the bed with him and they talked about what she needed to know. Once Cindy relaxed and started talking more freely, she told him that she wanted to try different positions and oral sex so he could fully evaluate her techniques and see what he could suggest. He tried, but not too hard, to convince her this was not a good idea since sex doesn't happen free of emotions that might cause a real break in their working relationship. But she wouldn't be convinced and promised him that wouldn't happen.
So they did it. Cindy was a very pretty young woman with long red hair and was very fit and trim, just like a lady should be. So it was not a burden to be with her. The first night was oral, both ways. He thought her ability to give head was wonderful and she could almost swallow all of his seven inches. She even swallowed his load when he popped. Cindy did scratch his cock with her teeth, but not too badly, and he pointed that out to her.
She lay back and spread her legs to give him full access to her clit and vagina. She had taken a shower recently and he thoroughly enjoyed the taste and smell of her pussy. She had a very strong orgasm as he tended to her clit but she was able to muffle her screams with the pillow. Cindy told him that one of her boyfriends didn't like oral sex and thought her genitals smelled dirty. He disagreed and said her pussy and ass were very neat and clean. To prove the point, he grabbed her waist and flipped her over to slip his tongue into her butt. She squealed with delight and squirmed as he licked her anus. So, the first night was successful and Cindy passed all the tests. They each had one orgasm.
The next night, he waited until late to take his shower so that he would be fresh for her. About midnight, the soft tap came again, as expected. He opened the door and she was dressed very nicely in tight jeans and a halter-top. And she wore a broad smile. Cindy said that she wanted to show him how she does in missionary and doggy positions.
He helped her skinny off the designer jeans and panties while she untied her top. He noticed that her vagina was already moist since her panties were damp. He pulled her down to sit on his lap. This time, he decided to suck her pink nipples for a few minutes and she moaned the entire time with her head leaning back in his arms. His free hand lightly caressed her clit as he sucked and her vagina oozed the lubrication they would need.
In a few moments, he gently lay her on the bed and spread her legs. After a few quick licks of her pussy, he got on his knees and lay between her legs to insert his cock. She held out her arms and pulled him to her as he slipped effortlessly inside her vagina. In only a few moments, they both exploded together as perspiration poured from their bodies. He gave Cindy a passing grade with a suggestion that it would be good for her to wrap her legs around his back and use her feet to pull him as he thrust into her. They decided to postpone doggy until the following night.
Just then, the Garman lady announced, "In four tenths of a mile, turn left onto Circle K Lane." It was easy to spot, as it was the only turn he had seen in the last mile.
As he drove up the lane, he noticed how far back the farmhouse set-easily a half mile from the county road. This must be some spread.
He pulled into the driveway and drove his pick-up into a parking space near the front door. It was a lovely old farmhouse, very large with a wrap around porch.
At that time, in the kitchen, Donna and Jenny were sipping their coffees. Jenny heard the pickup pull in and shut off.
"Mom, somebody's here. It's only 7:30, why is anyone coming this early?"
Donna said, "Calm down, it's probably the new vet and he's come to check out some of the cows."
Jenny ran to the front window just as Matt reached the front porch steps. She was dumbfounded and quickly ran back into the kitchen. "Mom, he's at the door. God, he is handsome and here I am in my robe and slippers. I hope he didn't see me. Can you ask him in for coffee while I run up and get decent?" She then dashed for the stairs and took them two at a time as Donna smiled from ear to ear.
The doorbell rang and Donna went to meet him.
"You must be Dr. Thoms."
"And you must be Mrs. Owens. Very nice to meet you."
"Please call me Donna. We are not very formal around here."
"And I'm Matt. My dad is Dr. Thoms."
They both laughed.
"So your dad is a vet?"
"No, actually he's a medical doctor. He still has his practice but is now in his 60's and thinking about retirement."
"Well, come on it. I have some hot coffee for you."
"I love your house. The old farmhouses like this are really special. My grandparents lived in one, not near this large, but it did have that wonderful porch."
"My husband's grandfather built this one when he bought the land back in the early 1900's. It has passed down to us now and it's our responsibility to pass it on."
"Do you take cream and sugar?"
"No, just black would be perfect. I love strong coffee."
"Please have a seat. I don't think our foreman is ready for you just yet."
While Donna and Matt talked, all hell was breaking loose upstairs. Jenny was trying to get her hair to do just anything that looked decent. She finally decided on a pony tail. She put on makeup in record time and quickly smelled her arm pits to see how bad they were. Maybe a little deodorant would help.
What to wear, what to wear? She went through four different outfits in under two minutes. Finally, it occurred to her, that she wanted to go to the barn with him so jeans were really the best. Jenny squeezed into her best form fitting jeans but had to jump and pull several times to get them up and fastened. She selected a nice plaid shirt that enhanced her boobs and ran to the mirror for one last check. Satisfied for now, she slipped on her sneakers and casually walked downstairs.
As Jenny reached the bottom of the steps, she said, "OH! Hi, I didn't know anybody was here. I'm Jenny."
Matt stood and offered his hand, "I'm Matt, the new vet in town." Matt thought she looked fantastic.
Donna jumped in, "Matt and I were just talking about the farm and this house, which will be yours one day. It sure is nice to see you up and dressed so early."
"Mom, you know I am always up with the sun. I can't wait to get down to the barn and help out."
It took all Donna had to keep from laughing. Jenny hadn't been to the barn in years. Lordy, that girl's got the hots for this guy.
"Well grab a cup of coffee and visit with Matt while I see if Jimmy is ready." Donna picked up the 2-way radio and walked out to the porch. When she was safely out of earshot, she opened the mic and said, "Jimmy, can you hear me."
Jimmy came on right way, "Hey Donna."
"The new vet is here. Are you ready for him?"
"Will be in about ten minutes. Jose and Mike have just come back from checking the herd and we now have 15 cows, 9 calves and 2 bulls that appear to have it. It took them forever to get that damn bull loaded. Obviously, his eyesight is diminished and he's as mean as I've ever seen one."
"OK, I'll send him down. Just so you know, Jenny is going to be with him. Whatever she says or tells him, just agree with her. You'll understand when they get there."
"OK Donna, it'll be good to see her again."
After Donna left, Jenny said, "So tell me about yourself. Where are you from and why did you decide to move here?" She just couldn't take her eyes off of him.
Matt responded, "Well, I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania, about 70 miles from Philly. It was nothing like this spread but we raised Herefords and grew pretty much all our food. It was a great place for kids to grow up and learn about responsibility and hard work. My dad is a medical doctor and is still practicing. He's thinking about selling the practice and retiring to the farm." Matt loved the expressions on her face as he talked.
"That's not going to be a carefree retirement."
"I know, but he's got some help so it won't be too bad on him."
Jenny asked, "How big a farm is it?"
"Only about 400 acres. The bad thing is that developments have now just about surrounded it. We just happen to be in a very popular area for retirement communities. When I was growing up, we were next to nowhere."
"That really is a shame. Everywhere we go, it seems that people are crowding out the farms and we are losing our roots to the land." Now Jenny never really liked farming, and being isolated like she was, but this morning was changing her views.
Matt said, "I had to drive a long way to get to the house. Is all the land between here and the road part of the Circle K?"
"No, another farmer owns a lot of it. We only have about 2000 acres and most of that is behind the house. But we have two really good creeks that never go dry and the way the land lays is just perfect for cattle or horses. We also have about 70 acres in old trees that dad is working hard to protect."
"What does he do to protect them?"
"He has arborists come in every couple of years and work with tree trimmers to take down dead or dying ones before they fall and injure healthy trees around them. He sells the logs to a small lumber company who then sells the lumber to furniture makers around here. So our trees end up living forever in the form of really beautiful furniture."
"Oh, I almost forgot-he also has the limbs cut into firewood and we use that to heat our house and our foreman's house which saves thousands in heating oil every year. And the best thing is the wood is carbon neutral."
"How do you know about carbon footprints?"
"I'm an environmental lawyer in Philly so I have to know all that stuff."
Matt was impressed but suddenly worried.
"So you're just here for a few days?"
"Actually, for a couple of months. My dad has been quite ill and I came home to give mom a hand." Matt was now relieved. At least he could see her again.
At that moment, Donna returned.
"Jimmy says they will be ready for you shortly. The list of patients has grown so I think we are looking at a full outbreak. He will fill you in."
"Mom, unless you need me, I'll be glad to show Matt the way and help them out today."
"I'm sure he'd appreciate that and I can struggle along without you for one day, I suppose." Donna had to turn away as she stifled her laugh.
After Donna called him, Jimmy got with Jose and Mike and told them what she had said.
Mike asked, "Why would Donna want us to agree with anything Jenny said."
Jimmy just shook his head and responded, "I don't know but she said we'd figure it out."
Matt and Jenny quickly finished their coffees and headed to the truck. Donna hollered at them, "Matt, check back before you leave. I want to know how bad you think it is."
"Sure will, Donna. Thanks for the coffee."
Matt opened the door for Jenny but she really struggled to get in with those designer jeans squeezing the shit out of her legs and butt. He was finally able to help by lifting up on her waist just enough to give her the needed leverage.
In just a few minutes, they arrived at the barn. Jenny introduced Matt to Jimmy and the guys. The guys glanced at each other with knowing eyes since they immediately saw what Donna meant.
Jimmy led off the discussion. "Matt, it's great to have you here. Donna said that you did your residency at New Bolton. Did you get to see or work with Barbaro?"
"Yes, I did, but only his last few weeks. It was a real shame to lose him. That horse did not know the meaning of giving up. He fought to stay alive till the very end. And I can tell you for a fact, there was not a dry eye in the place when the decision was made to put him down."
