"What is it? What's happened?" Sophie felt a knot forming in her gut. A knot of fear that she couldn't quite explain. A knot of dread and - inevitability.
"I'm sorry Sophie." He rumbled in a dead tone. "I'm really sorry."
"What?" The tears trickled down her cheek and a little sob broke through.
"It's Samantha, - she has vanished!"
