Matthew and Camille Ch. 13byinnocent_angel©
~*~*~*~*~Hey, guys. Here is the 13th chapter of Matt and Camille's story. I think there are going to be maybe two more chapters. I really hope you guys like it. I drew a lot of inspiration from my niece and tried to channel it into Ari, even though she's a few years older than Ari. She went through a lot of the same emotions with her parents and she grew up in a similar situation. That, I honestly hadn't planned on happening in the beginning, I guess I unconsciously modeled Ari after my niece, with the exception of a drug addicted actress for a mom and a really hot Italian guy as her dad, just my brother(yuck). Anyway, I love my niece like she's my own child and I hate that she had to feel anything other than absolute love and adoration from her parents, but it happened. She was, for the most part, abandoned by her parents. This was hard to write, a little emotional, but at the same time, once I got into it, I couldn't stop. I really hope you guys like this one even with the more sad parts. ~*~*~*~*~
"So did Matt get to bust that prick's face in?" Amy asked, crossing Camille's threshold on Sunday morning.
"Well, good morning to you, too," Camille said, laughing as she closed the door behind Amy.
"Yeah, yeah," Amy said waving a hand. "Come on, tell me what happened," she said, plopping down on the sofa and patting the spot next to her.
Camille smiled and sat down, tucking her leg beneath her as she turned to face Amy. "Well, Matt didn't harm Nate. In fact, there was almost no violence."
"Yep, Matt didn't do anything to him, neither did Danielle."
"So what happened," Amy asked, scooting closer to Camille as she grew more and more intrigued.
"Nate got a little too close to Danielle for your brother's liking, so Kale almost broke Nate's finger."
Amy's jaw dropped. "What? Kale was there?"
Camille nodded. "Matt egged him on," Camille said stretching. "Kale was dropping Danielle off, and happy to do so, because he didn't want to go to some boring meeting at a stuffy old lawyer's office. That's when Matt figured out that Kale had no idea that Arik was young and hot. He pretty much made it impossible for Kale not to go, especially with Danielle dressed like a naughty school teacher.
Amy threw her head back and laughed. "Told you guys that boy is in love with her. Kale has never been the jealous type, unless it has something to do with your sister. Man, I wish I'd been there to see that, though."
Camille smiled briefly. "It was entertaining." Kari flitted through her mind and her smile faded. "My sister showed up, too."
"Really, what'd that bitch have to say?"
Camille glanced at Amy. "She apologized."
Camille nodded. "Yeah. Says she's wanted to do so for a while, she doesn't hate me, and she didn't tell Nate that she didn't want to talk to me."
"Oh, well sorry for that whole 'bitch' comment," Amy said ambivalently.
Camille waved her off. "Don't worry about it."
"Well, do you believe her?"
Camille lifted one shoulder. "I don't know. She wants to get together with us eventually, you know talk it out, just the three of us, since Nate's so dead set against Danielle and me. Especially with the money and all."
Amy's brow furrowed. "What money?"
"Joseph left the two of us some money," Camille said standing. She walked to her bedroom, and grabbed the folder from her dresser, when she got back, she handed it to Amy.
Amy took the folder and looked through it. "Shit," she said looking at the number. "Are you keeping it? Or does Nate plan on trying to keep you from getting it?"
Camille shook her head. "He can't do that. If he does, he loses his position in the construction company that Joseph apparently owned."
"Bet that chapped his ass."
"To say the least," Camille said glancing down at the folder. She hadn't actually looked at it until Amy asked about it. Matt had brought it in for her when they got back to her place. "As far as keeping it," she shrugged, "I don't know."
"Well, you know I have your back in whatever you do, girl. If you need me, I'm here."
Camille met her eyes and smiled. "Thanks."
They were both silent for a moment. Then Amy spoke. "Sooo, speaking of being here for you," Amy said and the look on her face told Camille she'd had an ulterior motive for stopping by.
Camille crossed her arms over her chest. "What do you want?"
"Oh, bestest friend Camille--"
"Get to it."
"I think I might need to stay with you for a bit," Amy rushed out.
Camille relaxed. "And why is that?"
Amy's head fell back. "My building was sold a couple of months ago. None of us knew what was going to happen, so a lot of the other residents moved out. Me and a few others stuck around just to see what would happen. We found out last week that they are going to remodel the place into some 'luxury lofts'. That alone let's me know that I won't be able to afford it, but besides that, they gave us the notice like a few weeks ago that rent would be increased. I've been looking for a place that I can afford, that's not too far from work, and safe, but I haven't had any luck. Most of my stuff is packed up, not that I had too much anyway I just need to take it to store at my parents' place. They said I'm welcome to my old room, but there is no way in blue hell I can live with them for any span of time again. Especially with how Drew and I get down."
"I mean I go to his place all the time," she continued as if Camille hadn't interrupted, "but I'm not ready to like move in with him or anything. We barely know each other, ya know? Well, aside from screwing like rabbits. I know every inch of that man's body but I could not tell you his middle name..."
"Amy, focus," Camille snapped.
Amy looked at Camille. "Sorry."
"Why didn't you tell me about this whole thing before now?" Camille said, a little hurt.
Amy gave her a guilty look. "Well, you've been busy with your new boyfriend and I've kinda been busy with my chocolate sex god and I figured I'd have this whole thing taken care of by now. So, what about it? If you want your space, it's completely cool. I just wanted to ask."
"Of course you can stay here. I'm at Matt's a lot lately."
Amy smiled. "Knocking boots?"
Camille laughed. "Easier said than done. Ari is with him now and I cannot have a that baby walking in while I'm naked with her daddy. Anyway, you can stay here. I really don't want your behind to end up homeless and dying on the street. Everybody will say it was my fault, and your momma would kill me."
Amy laughed then reached over to hug Camille tightly. "You're the greatest person in the world."
Camille hugged her back. "Tell me something I don't know."
"I gotta go," Amy said standing. "I need to finish packing up."
"Do you need any help?" Camille asked following Amy.
"No, you're already helping me out a lot. Besides," she said walking to the door, "I don't have much. That big strapping man whose world I'm rocking can help."
"Way, way too much information."
Amy looked back at Camille and smiled. She reached over and hugged her friend once again. "Thank you."
"Don't worry about it, you used to practically live here anyway."
"Yeah, until you got a man and started doing the nasty all the time."
"Goodbye, Amy. Hey, I'm headed to Matt's later so I might not be here--"
Amy jiggled her keys. "Still got my copy," she said before opening her car door. "See you later, chica."
Camille waved as Amy pulled ot of the driveway and left.
Matt's smile stretched across his face as he opened the door for Camille. "Baby, you have a key," he said bending to place a kiss on her lips.
Camille smiled and walked through the door. "I know, but what if you were in the middle of something. I didn't want to just barge in and catch you in a compromising situation."
"Miele, you've seen me in every compromising situation possible," he said as he closed the door behind her. He turned her around to face him, pulling her body flush with his. "Use the key."
Camille eyes dropped to Matt's lips and they slowly curled knowingly. "Well, if you really want me to," she said, her voice huskier than it was before. Moving her hand to his neck, she gently guided his lips to hers. Camille kissed him deeply, sliding her tongue into his waiting mouth. She let out a moan of pleasure as Matt's hands moved to cup her bottom. He quickly lifted her up and she automatically tightened her arms around his neck. A moment later, Camille felt a cool surface of the door against her back which served to bring her back to reality.
"Wait, baby, wait, we can't."
Matt lifted his head to look at her. His brow was knit in confusion, and he was still had her pinned against the door, his erection pressing against her stomach. "What?"
Camille waited until he lowered her to the floor. Her gaze shifted away from his before she answered. "My period, remember?"
"Ah," Matt said nodding. He kissed her again before taking a step back.
Camille leaned against the door for a moment before her eyes met his. "Sorry," she said. When his eyes questioned her she gestured toward his erection. "I can help you with that if you want."
He smiled and stepped closer to her again. "I'd love that, but Stacy is going to bring Ari back any minute," he said caressing her cheek, "and I know how you feel about her finding us in a compromising situation."
This time Camille's brow furrowed. "She hasn't brought her back yet?"
Matt sighed. "Nope. She called, said that she wanted to keep her for a little longer. Ari said she was fine," he shrugged, "so I said she could."
"Is that good or bad?" Camille questioned, circling his waist with her arms.
He shrugged again. "Ari's in one piece. That's all that matters." Just then, a knock sounded on the door. "Speak of the devil," he grumbled, moving Camille's head to the side slightly to look through the peephole. He kissed her again before moving aside to let her move away from the door.
"Papa!" Was the first word he heard as he opened the door. He smiled broadly as Ari ran into him and he bent down to pick her up. He moved into the house more so that he was able to swing her around in a secure but gentle hug.
"Mi sei mancato tanto, la mia bambina," into Ari's hair.
"Mi sei mancato, anche papa."
Camille was smiling at the pair when she heard the door close. She looked over and was surprised to see Stacy still standing inside of it. Why the hell was she sticking around? The smile slowly slipped from her face as she watched Stacy watching Matt and Ari, mostly Matt.
"We had a good time this weekend," Stacy said, eying Camille out of the corner of her eye.
Matt looked at Stacy briefly before looking at Ari. "Did you?"
Ari gave a quick nod, but she didn't say anything else about it as she looked at Camille. "Camille!" Ari said reaching for her.
Camille smiled and held her arms out for Ari. The little girl quickly wrapped her arms around Camille's neck and gave her a hug. "I missed you. Your papa is sooooo, boring when you're not here. He doesn't like to watch cartoons with me or anything."
Ari laughed. "I missed you, too."
After another moment or two, Camille put Ari down, and her back stiffened as she caught a glimpse of the frown on Stacy's face.
"Papa, will you help me take my bags to my room," Ari asked pointing at the overnight bag she'd taken, as well as a few shopping bags from stores that Camille knew were on the expensive side.
Matt looked at both women standing stiffly in their respective corners. He was unsure of whether he should leave the two alone together or not because he could literally feel the tension between them. They hadn't said anything to each other yet. Ari's insistent tugging at his arm made the decision for him. "I'll be right back," Matt said to both women.
As soon as Matt left the room, Stacy looked at Camille full on. "So, what, do you like live here now?" She asked with a look of disgust on her face.
"What difference does that make?" Camille asked turning to Stacy.
"It makes a difference because I don't want my kid living with a fat slut."
Before she realized it, Camille had moved and was standing directly in front of Stacy. The other woman was slightly taller, but it didn't make a difference to Camille as made obvious by the vast change in her facial expression. Stacy took a step back. "I think everyone knows that you, of all people, can't call anyone a slut and if you call me a slut again," she said in a low, deadly tone, "I will take you outside, and use the concrete to scrub the layers of makeup off of your coke crusted face, bitch. What Matt and I do is none of your business. And I'd suggest you keep my name and his out of your mouth," she said, still in a low voice.
"You've crossed me once, this makes two," Camille held up two fingers. "You do it again, I will show you what this fat girl can do. Don't mistake my quiet demeanor for passivity. I let that shit slide before because there were other people around and I don't show my ass in public," she said then disgustedly looked Stacy over, "unlike some people. I'm a grown woman, if I have a problem with someone, I address that someone. So watch what you say and do because you will not get another warning." Camille quickly moved back to where she was standing. "And understand one more thing, I love Ari, probably more than you do, and I will protect her until my last breath. If you hurt her, or cause her any pain, I will hurt you in ways you never knew were possible." Camille glared at Stacy for a moment longer before they heard Ari's and Matt's voices coming down the hall.
Stacy watched in confusion as Camille's whole demeanor changed. She looked nothing like the woman who had just threatened her. Her shoulders were no longer tense, her hands were no longer fists at her side, and her expression went from cold and hard, back to the soft welcoming one that she'd had when she'd first seen Arianna. "Hey little girl," Camille said cheerily, "I'm so glad you're back."
Ari smiled and ran over to Camille. "Me, too," she said as Camille picked her up and hugged her tightly.
Matt smiled and walked over to Camille and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. He placed a kiss on her forehead before turning to Stacy. "Was there anything else?" He asked somewhat politely.
"Um, no," Stacy said, pulling her eyes away from Camille. "I'll be in touch."
Camille frowned, but said nothing.
"Okay," Matt said nodding as he walked over to the door and opened it. "Thanks for bringing her back safe."
Stacy nodded and walked to the door. "Thanks for letting me have her," she said, glancing at Camille once more before walking out of the door.
Matt turned back to Camille who was staring at the door. "You alright, babe?"
Camille met his eyes and smiled. "Of course. Hey, I'm starved, what are we eating for lunch?"
What are you wearing?
Camille couldn't help but laugh at the text she received. The student she was working with raised an eyebrow in question. She cleared her throat. "Sorry," she mumbled as she stepped away to answer. She knew she shouldn't have answered, but being with Matt had made her change some of her habits. Clothes. She responded.
A moment later she got a response. Sexy clothes?
NO!! I'm at work. I shouldn't be answering you anyway. You're going to get me fired.
"Was that all you needed Dr. Flynn?" The student asked, bringing her back to reality.
"Yes, David, thank you," she said taking the consent form he'd filled out for her next round of studies. "Remember to get here early next Thursday."
He nodded. "Yes, ma'am," he said then left.
Camille's phone buzzed again. Can you put on some sexy clothes?
A moment later, as she was headed back to her office, her phone buzzed again, this time because of a call. Matt's office number flashed across the screen. When she answered, she immediately heard Matt's rich rumbling laugh. "Very funny, Matt."
"Hello to you, too," he said and she could still hear the laughter in he voice.
"Where to for lunch?" She asked, assuming it was the reason for the call.
She heard him sigh. "Can't go today. This case is going to have us working through lunch and probably late tonight, again," he said, referring to the reason why the two had only been able to communicate over the phone since Sunday. It was Wednesday and if not for her own work, and a fast approaching group study occupying her time, she'd probably be moping around missing him. "That's why I called. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind keeping Ari tonight. I'd ask Mara, but Ari has already asked if you could stay with her."
"Sure," she answered without hesitation. A small smile spread across her lips. She loved spending time with Ari, and she was glad that Ari liked spending time with her. "When and where am I picking her up?"
"Lucky gets them from school at about 3:15, so anytime after that is fine. Or if you want you can meet her at the school," he said then he began talking with one of his colleagues.
"No, I won't be done here soon enough to do that so I'll just pick her up from Mara's around five."
"Uh huh," Matt said and Camille couldn't tell whether he was talking to her or not.
"Matt? I'll talk to you later, okay?" She said, realizing that his attention was already half gone.
"Huh? Okay, baby. I'll let Lucky know. Talk to you later, ti amo."
"Ti amo?" She said in return.
"Alright," he said then disconnected the call.
"Ti amo," she said to herself, her brow furrowed, "I need to find out what that means," she said before something the thought.
Ari lifted her eyes up from her princess coloring book to watch Camille who was on the sofa working on her computer. She really wanted Camille to get down on the floor and color with her but Ari knew Camille had work to do so she couldn't right now. She also wanted to ask Camille a question. She had been thinking about it for a long time, but Camille was busy and she was a little afraid to interrupt her. She'd interrupted Stacy once and Stacy had said she was a rude little brat. But she really wanted to know something. And besides, Camille didn't treat her like Stacy did.
"Camille?" Ari said just barely loud enough for Camille to hear her.
"Hmm?" Camille answered distractedly, still typing away on her computer.
"Can I ask you a question?"
Camille looked up from her computer and smiled. "Of Course, sweetie. Was that the question?"
Ari smiled. "No," she said sitting up.
"Ok, babe, what's your question?"
Ari was quiet for a moment, as if thinking about her words. "What's wrong with me?" The child asked, her eyes serious and somewhat sad.
Camille blinked at the question. She couldn't have heard Ari right. "What did you say?"
Ari lowered her head, her confidence waning. "What...what's wrong with me?"
"Arianna Roman, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You're perfect," Camille said with fierce, absolute sincerity.
Ari looked up at her, still not completely convinced. "Are you sure?"
"Arianna come here," Camille said placing her laptop aside. Ari got up and slowly walked over to Camille. Her eyes were downcast as she stood in front of Camille. Camille lifted her hands and cupped Ari's warm cheeks. "Look at me," she said gently.
The little girl raised her eyes.
"I've never been more sure of anything, baby. You're perfect. I'm not just saying that either, honey. Everybody feels the same way; your daddy, Mara, Ryan, Drew, your cousins, and even though you haven't really gotten to know them yet, Danielle and Amy will feel the same way, sweetie." Camille tucked some stray hairs behind Ari's ear. "Baby, what's wrong?"
