Kaeden looked radiant. His skin glowed with health. His dark almond eyes sparkled almost as much as his dangly earrings. He wore skintight jeans, cuffed around his slender calves, neon-pink tennis shoes without socks, and a neon-pink tank top. His multicolored spikes bounced atop his head in a glorious display of attitude.

"Ty!" he cried, pulling the redhead into a tight hug.

"Hey, Kaeden!" Ty answered quietly, returning the hug.

Kaeden pulled back, but kept his hands on Ty's arms. "Let me see you!" He looked at Ty intently. "Are you doing okay?"

Ty nodded and swallowed. He was having a bad morning, snapping at Abe and pouting. He had been trying to figure out how to get his money back and get away. He really didn't want to go to his counseling session—and it was drawing nearer by the minute.

Now, he could tell by the look in Kaeden's eye that he knew about his downfall.

Does everyone know about the drugs? he wondered.

"You know about the drugs?" he asked.

Kaeden nodded. "No judgment Ty. It's easy to get sucked in. You're off them now though, right?"

Ty nodded. "I sure as hell hope so. But how did you find out? Did Dani tell you?" Ty hadn't actually said anything to Dani, and he didn't think Abe had either, but Dani had known, he was sure.

"No, Tommy told me."

"Tommy?"

"Yes, he talked to Sven."

"Sven?"

"You remember Sven, from the Shay Shay club?"

"Uh...."

"Sven says you tried to get in at the back door—more than once. He called Tommy about you."

Ty sank into the nearest chair, a large leather one, covering his face in his hands. He was shaken.

"Oh my God," he whispered. "I don't even remember that."

Kaeden sat on the arm of the chair and began rubbing Ty's back gently. "It's okay, sweetie. It's over now."

Ty nodded and a tremor ran through his body. He wondered what else he had done during the three weeks where his memory was spotty.

Kaeden began kneading his shoulders and gradually he started to relax.

Abe had been in the shower when Kaeden arrived. In Ty's dark mind frame, he had seriously considered leaving while his roommate showered, but his promise to Abe was a steel chain binding him there—that and the fact that Abe had taken his wallet with him into the bathroom.

He still doesn't trust me, Ty had thought with a sigh. But he didn't trust himself either, so there was no blame.

Now Abe came out of the bedroom, freshly showered and shaved, wearing scrubs.

Kaeden jumped up to greet him, his eyes widening as they took him in. Holy shit, he's big! And strong. And handsome. And those muscles—unbelievable! If Dani hadn't told him that he thought Ty had fallen in love with Abe, he might have been interested himself.

Abe was startled by Kaeden's look as well. Wow! Exotic. A bit over-the-top for my taste, but lovely. This flagrant femme is Ty's friend?

As Abe greeted Kaeden shyly, the Asian resisted the urge to comment on Abe's size and muscles. He must get that all the time. He looked at Ty and found him watching their interaction with an odd look on his face. Kaeden's attention was on Ty when the redhead shifted his focus to Abe. His quick perusal of the big man followed by a slight widening of his eyes and intake of breath confirmed what Dani had told him—Ty was smitten.

Abe realized he was staring at Kaeden and turned back to Ty with a smile. "So how much money do you want to spend today?" He pulled out his wallet.

"Uh...I don't know. How much do jeans cost? I also need some underwear."

"We're going shopping?" Kaeden squealed with excitement.

Ty couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm.

"How much are you giving him? He'll take as much as he can get." Kaeden addressed Abe.

Abe chuckled. "It's his own money. I'm just holding it for him."

"How about two-hundred and I'll bring back what's left?" Ty suggested. Glancing at Kaeden he said, "We don't have to spend all of it." Somehow he knew that would be Kaeden's goal.

Abe peeled off two hundred and paused, looking uncertain.

"Do you want me to give it to you or Kaeden?" he asked.

Heat crept up Ty's neck. He felt like a little kid again—a little kid who'd gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "Kaeden, please," he answered in a small voice.

Kaeden looked surprised, but recovered quickly and accepted the money.

"Keep a close eye on me when we're out," Ty instructed him. "I might try to slip away."

Kaeden glared at him and then grabbed his arm tightly, responding in a thick southern accent that was completely incongruent with his looks. "I'll stick to you like glue suga'! You ain't gettin' away from me!"

They all laughed and some of the tension eased.

True to his word, Kaeden "stuck like glue" to Ty the entire time they were out, holding his hand or sometimes slipping an arm around his waist. Ty was embarrassed, because they caught lots of looks—Kaeden was hard not to notice. But as the day wore on, he got used to it and was able to ignore the shocked stares of passers-by.

Their first stop was the clinic for Ty's counseling session. Kaeden waited in the lobby while a very nervous Ty went to talk to his counselor.

Twenty-five minutes later Ty stormed into the lobby, his face flushed. He was followed by a tall, gaunt man whose pale, thinning hair wisped across the top of his forehead. The man looked irritated. Ty looked furious.

"You still have five minutes," the man said. Kaeden noticed the man's eyes were devouring Ty's ass.

"I'm done," Ty said firmly. He paused in front of Kaeden who had climbed to his feet.

"Are you going to introduce me to your friend?" The man's voice was cloying.

Kaeden looked at the counselor to find him staring at him with open lust. As the man's eyes roved over Kaeden's body hungrily, the femme suppressed a shudder. He was giving out serious creep vibes.

"No!" Ty said, not even looking at the man. Kaeden noticed Ty was trembling slightly. "Come on, Kae. Let's go."

They were at the door when the man spoke again, pulling them up short. "You have another session Ty. You need to book it now. Otherwise you'll need to pay before you leave the clinic."

Ty grimaced. "Ugh! I don't think I can handle another session," he whispered to Kaeden. "I think I'll just pay." Still ignoring the man, Ty went to the reception desk.

Kaeden observed the man surreptitiously. He leered at Ty, his eyes roving over the youth's body while he licked his thin lips. The man cut his eyes over to Kaeden and he smiled. "You should book a session too," he said. His eyes were not on Kaeden's face.

Kaeden went cold. He suddenly felt as if he were stark naked and the man was licking him all over with his eyes. Eeeew! Kaeden could not suppress his shudder this time.

Trying to ignore the man, he went to Ty's side. He could still feel eyes upon him, creeping him out.

"A hundred and thirty dollars!" Ty said in dismay. Damn! But he had his own money now—at least he didn't have to get Abe to shell out. He didn't even consider trying to put the clinic visit on his insurance. He was terrified that word of his rape and drug addiction would get back to his parents somehow if he did that.

"Can you give them $130, please?" Ty addressed Kaeden. It seemed like a lot of money, but if it would keep him from having to talk to that perv again, he would pay it.

"Do you have any other counselors?" Kaeden asked the receptionist.

"Jerry's the only one here. However, to qualify for the program, you don't have to use our counselor. You just need to show us proof that you've had sessions with a licensed therapist."

"I can go to someone else?" Ty clarified, immensely relieved.

"Yes. Just bring us proof and we'll refund your money."

"Refund?" Ty's voice was heavy with disappointment. "I can't just skip paying now and bring you proof later?"

The receptionist frowned. "Our rules clearly state you need to book your next appointment before you leave the office otherwise you need to pay."

Ty fished around in his pocket and brought out the card his mother had handed him the day before. He held it out for the receptionist.

"Here's the counselor I'd like to see. Would it be possible for you to book the appointment for me?"

She smiled, taking the card. "Yes, I can do that." Glancing at the card she added, "I've heard Stephanie is very good."

Ty and Kaeden waited while she set up an appointment for him for Wednesday. They were happy to note that Mr. Creepy had disappeared.

When the receptionist finished she handed the card back to Ty along with a note that stated his appointment time. "Here you go. They'll fax us what we need once you've gone to your appointment, so we should be good."

"Thanks," Ty said. He started to turn to go, but she stopped him with a quiet word.

"Hey! Um ... you're not the first one who's not wanted to see Jerry again. Would you mind telling us what the problem is?"

Ty squirmed uncomfortably. Running his mind over the conversation he'd had with Jerry, he couldn't come up with anything incriminating. The man's specific words were fine, it was his tone of voice and the way his eyes roved that made Ty feel as if he'd been groped.

"Uh ... I'm just not comfortable with him."

The receptionist frowned.

"The man is a serious creep!" Kaeden added helpfully. "I mean, he needs to keep his eyes in his head."

"And his hands off his dick," Ty muttered.

"What?" Kaeden cried. "He didn't!"

The receptionist may not have heard Ty's comment, but she certainly noted Kaeden's reaction.

Ty's face had paled. He really did not want to talk about this. He just wanted to leave. The counselor had been so subtle Ty hadn't realized at the time why he had suddenly been upset enough to jump to his feet and storm out of the man's office. Now, thinking about it, he remembered that the man had slipped a hand to his crotch and run his fingers quickly up the length of his obviously hard dick, all the while smiling at Ty with a predatory glint in his eye.

Yuck!

"Here!" The receptionist was handing him a form. "If you could fill this out and drop it off or mail it back, we'd really appreciate it. If no one ever complains, we'll just keep sending people to Jerry."

Ty accepted the form and thanked the receptionist. He was only too glad to leave the office.

****

Shopping with Kaeden was an exhilarating experience. The femme knew just where to go, and most of the salespeople knew him by name.

"Just how much shopping do you do?" Ty asked after Kaeden was greeted warmly at the third store.

"Too much." Kaeden laughed. "I don't have money anymore though, so I'm glad I can help you spend some of yours. When I was assistant manager at one of my dad's stores, I always had money for shopping."

Ty tried on several pairs of jeans that he would have bought if he'd been on his own. They apparently didn't meet Kaeden's high standards, or perhaps he simply wanted to spend more time shopping, because he rejected all of them and they moved on.

Finally, in the fifth or sixth store—Ty lost count—he tried on a pair of tight black jeans that met with Kaeden's approval.

"Those will be perfect for dress jeans. Now we need to find you a casual pair."

They broke for lunch after that, Kaeden leading the way to a Thai noodle house, where he was also apparently somewhat of a celebrity. The food was delicious so Ty didn't complain.

After lunch they shopped again. Kaeden found a pair of faded blue jeans that he insisted made Ty's ass look edible. Ty blushed fiercely at this comment, and when he thought about what Abe's reaction to his new jeans might be, he blushed even more.

Kaeden also insisted on helping Ty pick out some new underwear. In fact, Kaeden wanted to spend all of the rest of Ty's money on underwear and a shirt, but Ty put his foot down. He didn't need any more shirts since Abe had given him Evan's clothes. Evan had had good taste. Ty did, however, let Kaeden talk him into buying a pair of dark blue sweats that hugged his butt nicely.

They made it back to Abe's apartment by late afternoon. Ty was worn out from all the shopping, but Kaeden was still running on a shopping high.

"I love spending money," he gushed. "Especially if it's not mine."

Ty managed to get home with thirty-two dollars, still in Kaeden's keeping. He couldn't help but think that that was enough for a small hit. It occurred to him to try to talk Kaeden into giving him his money and then leaving. However, he knew his friend was not naïve—he didn't think he'd be able to fool him. And his mood had improved during the time he'd spent with Kaeden; he didn't feel desperate to escape depression anymore. In fact, he felt pretty good as he started poking around in the refrigerator, looking for something to make for dinner.

Kaeden positioned himself on one of the kitchen stools to chat with Ty until Abe got home.

****

When Abe got up the next morning and saw Ty sleeping in the couch, he smiled. Ty had obviously fallen asleep reading; a book was on his lap and the light was on. His face was peaceful. Abe paused on this way to the kitchen area and stared at him, his heart creeping into his throat. Ty looked angelic. He looked as young as he had when he'd first met him.

A lump formed in Abe's throat as he thought about Ty's lost innocence. He would never forgive himself for the part he played in that. He prayed that with time Ty would be able to bury the bad memories and be happy again.

Today would be Ty's first day by himself. Abe had spent half the night worrying about it, but short of calling in sick for work and staying home himself, which was not an option, he couldn't think of how to keep Ty from harm. Ty had made it clear that he wouldn't stand for anymore "babysitters."

Abe fetched himself a cup of coffee—he always set the timer to brew by five when he had the early shift so that he could drink a cup while he got ready for work. As he walked back through the main room, he noticed Ty was awake. Unlike himself, the youth was a light sleeper.

"Good morning," he said, perching on the edge of the couch. Ty shuffled his legs over to make room for him.

"G'morning." Ty smiled sleepily and Abe beamed back at him.

Abe slept in nothing but his boxers, and that was what he was still wearing.

Ty's eyes roved over Abe's sculpted chest, noting that he had a light dusting of short black curls. His mouth went dry.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine," Ty croaked, forcing himself to focus on Abe's face and trying to work some moisture into his mouth.

"Are you going to be okay today? I can call Dani to come by later ... or you can come to work with me. There's not much to do there, but you wouldn't be alone."

Ty shook his head. He couldn't imagine spending the day sitting around a hospital waiting room—it would surely be depressing.

"I'll be fine, Abe." He willed that to be true.

Ty looked healthy. His eyes were clear and bright. He was still too thin but had already lost the starving junkie look.

"Okay. If you're sure." Abe patted Ty's blanket-covered leg, just above the knee. He did it absentmindedly and it was meant to be comforting, but as soon as he realized his hand was on Ty's thigh a burst of heat flashed through him taking his breath away. As he sucked in a gasp of air his eyes met Ty's.

Ty's eyes widened.

When Abe's huge hand touched his leg, all thought flew from Ty's mind. He's touching me! Oh, god!

It seemed like Abe's touch was made of fire—even through the blanket. A shiver of heat danced from his thigh to spread throughout his body. His cock, already half-hard, immediately engorged to full, aching hardness. A vision flashed into his mind of shifting himself so that Abe's hand was against his straining cock and then humping into it.

When his eyes met Abe's, he saw his own desire reflected in them. It was like pouring gasoline on a fire. Ty bit his lower lip to keep down the moan he felt rising. Fighting for control, he squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath. He felt Abe's weight leave the couch.

"I'm going to hop in the shower." Abe's drawl sounded husky.

Ty didn't trust himself to answer, he just nodded. He could feel precum leaking from his slit. A few seconds later he opened his eyes to make sure Abe was gone. As soon as he ascertained that, his hand dove beneath his briefs to find his desperate cock. He stroked himself quickly, gasping and panting. He could still feel the heat of Abe's hand on his thigh. He pictured Abe's huge dark hand wrapped around his pale cock, and he exploded, stifling the cry that should have accompanied his orgasm.

He had never cum so quickly.

Embarrassed, he went into the bedroom to fetch himself a clean pair of underwear. Using his soiled pair, he wiped the cum from his stomach and cock.

He could hear the shower running and pictured Abe naked, water running down his massive chest. His cock jerked as blood started flowing into it again. What the fuck is wrong with me? Get a grip, you horny bastard, he scolded himself.

If he had been able to see what Abe was doing in the shower, he would have shot another load immediately.

In spite of his best efforts to keep from fantasizing about Ty, the sheer lust in Ty's eyes before he had closed them had been too much for Abe. By the time he was in the shower with his boxers off, his stiff cock could not be denied. He didn't even try to stop himself from picturing Ty's beautiful, lust-filled eyes as he jacked himself to a quick release.

Fuck! I need to find some control—fast.

By the time Abe got out of the shower, Ty was dressed and in the kitchen getting out cereal and milk, trying to act like nothing had happened.

At first Ty avoided looking at Abe, but as they ate breakfast together and talked of normal things, he relaxed and was able to carry his side of the conversation. But his mind was a maelstrom of confusion. He didn't try to sort out his feelings just then; he buried them.

Abe, for his part, tried to act normal as well. He understood his emotions: elation and fear. Elation because he had seen the lust in Ty's eyes. He likes me! He wants me! his heart sang. It gave him hope that someday Ty might be ready for a real relationship with him. He also felt fear, because he had not been in complete control of himself. If he did something stupid and scared Ty away again, he'd never forgive himself.

When he was near the beautiful young man, his body reacted. If Ty hadn't had his eyes closed, he would surely have seen the tent in Abe's boxers. As much as he liked to think he was in control, his cock had a mind of its own.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Abe asked once again as he got ready to leave.

"I'll be fine, Abe."

"You'll be here when I get back?"

"Yes. I won't go anywhere."

Abe smiled at Ty and it took all of his strength to walk out the front door and close it behind him. He heard Ty shooting the bolt. He took a deep breath and said a silent prayer to keep Ty safe.

Ty turned back to the empty apartment and shivered slightly. He had the whole place to himself for the day. Of course the first thing that went through his mind was that he could leave and go look for a hit. He didn't feel a strong craving for it though and it wasn't difficult for him to dismiss the thought. He helped himself to a cup of coffee and sat down on the couch.

He was so much better off with Abe than he'd been on the street—much better with Abe than he'd been with Tim too. He shivered again and wondered what Tim's status was. Was he even still alive? The memory of his crumpled body raised its spectral head, but Ty didn't feel anything. He didn't hate Tim. He didn't like him. He felt nothing.
