A couple hours later, both Cullen and Angel were heading downstairs. They were famished after their activities they just finished, but they still hungered even more for something else. Though both Cullen and Angel knew it would have to wait as there was much to do.

Many pack members knew exactly what was keeping the Alpha and his mate. The members couldn’t help but smile when they walked in, and smiled even more at hearing Cullen chuckle at Angel’s blush. When they were seated, trays upon trays were placed in front of them.

“You both will need to fuel up,” said Gavin, with a cheek grin.

Angel blushed even more. She felt like kicking herself for getting embarrassed at what they did, as it was perfectly natural. She still couldn’t believe how Cullen made her climax over and over so many times before he finally gave in and found his release.

Clearing his throat, Cullen asked, “So any news from Lysander?”

Gavin’s grin faded right away as he now frowned. “Aye,” stated Gavin.

Cullen knew right away that something upset Gavin, but knew he would tell him when he was ready…perhaps when they were in private.

“Lysander and a few of his betas will be joining us for dinner tonight,” stated Gavin.
Cullen nodded. He will have to inform one of the omegas of the dinner guests, and let them tell the kitchen hands.

“Who is Lysander, Cullen?” asked Angel quietly. She was able to detect how both Gavin and Cullen didn’t like this man named Lysander.

“He is the Alpha from the neighboring pack. As much as I really don’t want to, you will meet him later tonight unfortunately,” said Cullen.
Angel nodded. If both of them didn’t like this Alpha, what are the chances that she will? Putting it behind her for the time being, she decided to change the topic. “Cullen, do you have stables here?”

Cullen turned to look at Angel. Then he had completely forgotten about the surprise he wanted to show her when they first arrived. He really wanted to kick himself for that. “Which reminds me, that I still need to show you the two surprises that I didn’t get the chance to show you yesterday—we kind of got sidetracked doing other things,” said Cullen, smiling at Angel.

Angel was able to see the hunger in his eyes, and knew it had completely nothing to do with wanting food. She couldn’t help but squirm slightly in her chair under his fierce-hunger filled stare. God she wanted him right now again. She couldn’t help but look down at Cullen’s lap, and she noticed right away, how badly he wanted her again judging from the bulge in his pants.

“Angel you keep staring at me like that and I will be forced to take you right here on the table” Cullen tried to warn Angel.

Deciding that she had to change the topic right away, and get her focused on something else, she asked, “What surprise do you have for me?”

Taking a deep breath to get himself in control again, Cullen slowly replied, “I will show you after breakfast. So eat up.”

Nodding, Angel was surprised that she completely finished everything off her plate. She even took more helpings of the sausage and bacon. Cullen was surprised in a good way, how much she ate—especially the meat.

Angel was enjoying the sausage way too much. Slowly nibbling on it, she tried to savor the taste of it. This had to be one of the best sausages she had ever tasted before.

Cullen continued to stare at Angel. Seeing her eat the sausage like that, made him almost burst in his pants. He couldn’t take it anymore. He reached over and took the fork from her hand and placed it on the plate, as he stood up, making
Angel stand up as well.

“If it was your plan to torture me, than you have succeeded. I couldn’t take it anymore,” said Cullen, as he began to pull Angel out of the room, and headed for the doors that led outside.

Angel couldn’t help but laugh. “Well it’s not my fault that you get turned on by sausage.” Angel didn’t know that he was staring at her while she was eating. She knew exactly what it must have looked like.

“It wasn’t the sausage Angel, and you know it. It was how you were…treating… your sausage,” stated Cullen.

“Well I can’t help it! I love sausage,” Angel said honestly.

Cullen groaned loudly. Angel couldn’t help but laugh even more.

A few minutes later, Cullen stopped Angel. “Angel close your eyes, and no peaking.”
After Angel closed her eyes, Cullen led her inside, and once they were standing in front of the surprise, he said to open her eyes.
When Angel opened her eyes, she couldn’t believe how beautiful this horse was. It was a dark brown filly standing tall, and was immediately in love. “This is my surprise? Are you telling me this horse is mine?” asked Angel, completely shocked.

Nodded his head, “I knew how you liked the horses back in the States, so I thought it was best to get your own.” Cullen loved to see this expression on her face.

Angel went and hugged Cullen right away, thanking him over and over. She always loved horses since she was young. Every little girl always asked for a pony but soon grew out of it, but not Angel. She always wanted a horse and never stopped wanting one. She went immediately into the stall, so that she may pet the horse. “I think I will name this horse…Alainn.”

Cullen stared at Angel carefully. Did she know that the name Alainn meant ‘beautiful’ in Gaelic? There was no way for Angel to know Gaelic, was there?

“How soon can I ride Alainn, Cullen?” asked Angel insistently. She wanted to go for a ride, in the rolling hills that surrounded most of this compound.

“Soon Angel, let me first saddle both our horses.” Cullen began to saddle her horse first, and then was going to help her on it, when she just swung her leg over as if she had done this many times before. He arched his brow.

Angel shrugged while smiling, “Since I never was able to have a horse of my own, I always just went horse back riding when ever I went on vacation. Hurry up mister and get on your horse.”

Shaking his head, Cullen walked to the back stall, where they kept his horse. In no time Cullen was riding over to Angel on top of his magnificent beast. Cullen was able to see Angel’s eyes widen slightly at the size of his horse.

“Beautiful,” said Angel in complete shock. Cullen’s horse was the darkest black she had ever seen before. “Not now Cullen, but someday, may I try that horse?” asked Angel. She always loved a challenge, and getting on top of that horse would be a challenge itself.

“I don’t think you should. He never lets anyone else handle him. Besides, I think it would be safer if you would just ride on Alainn,” suggested Cullen.

“What’s his name?” asked Angel, indicating to his horse.

“You know, I never named him before,” said Cullen.

“Hmm, I will have to think on that. No ordinary name would do for that one.”

Then Cullen led the way out, and once outside, Angel just passed Cullen by, leaving him behind in her dust. Cullen stood there, clearly shocked, but had to grin, and urged his horse into a run. Angel’s horse was quick, but his horse will always be the fastest and soon he was catching up to Angel.

When he finally caught up with her, Angel said, “I know exactly what to call him now.” Angel looked over at Cullen, and than at his horse. “His name should be Cadifor.”

Again, Cullen was shocked. Cadifor meant ‘battle lord’. Cullen frowned at first. She had to know something about Gaelic for her to come up with two names like that. He shrugged his shoulders though. Now was not the time though. He wanted to enjoy his time with Angel.

He worried about Angel at first at the speed they were going, but seeing her ride, he knew she was experienced enough. Besides, he just loved the emotions playing on her face right now, and knew right there and then, that he wouldn’t do anything at this moment to stop her enjoyment.

A little over an hour later, both Cullen and Angel rode their horses. Instead of going straight to the stable, they rode in to the center. As Cullen got off his horse, and went to help Angel, he grabbed her waist, and let her slide her body down his. It was a simple act, but it held so many promises later that night.

Angel leaned forward and kissed Cullen one more time, thanking him for the beautiful surprises. The other surprise was the garden he showed her. It was even more enchanting than the other one. She will really thank him later tonight.

Just then, someone cleared their throat. When Cullen looked up, he saw Lysander and five men standing behind him. “So nice of you to join us, Cullen,” stated Lysander.

Unknowingly, Angel moved closer to Cullen. For some reason, Angel had a bad feeling about this man. There was something about him that she couldn’t put her finger on.

“Lysander. I hope you settled in comfortably while I was away.” Cullen didn’t like the way

Lysander was staring so openly at Angel. He felt Angel shift closer to him, and he, without any thought, put his arm around her, showing Lysander and the rest of the men that she belonged to him.
Lysander just smiled. “And who is this beauty?”

“Angel this is Lysander, Alpha of the MacNare pack. Lysander, this is Angel, my mate,” Cullen stated clearly, so that they would really know that Angel was only his and his alone.

Angel nodded in his direction. “Nice to meet you.”
There was shock that crossed Lysander’s face at first, but it was soon hidden behind a black expression. “Believe me, the pleasure will be all mine Angel.”

Cullen had to hold back the growl he felt rumbling from his wolf.

Just then, Gavin walked up to them. “Alpha, your stepmother, Cian, and his new fling just arrived back here not to long ago.

Angel was clearly confused at who else was here.
Cullen just needed to take a breather. First things first. “Gavin, please show the MacNares’ to where they may freshen up before lunch.”
Gavin nodded, and waited for the MacNares to follow him inside.

Once they left, Angel turned to Cullen. “I don’t like him Cullen, at all. There is something off with him.”

Cullen nodded. “I don’t want you to be alone in a room with him. Am I clear Angel?” When Angel nodded, Cullen placed a kiss on her forehead. “Come on and let’s change, before I have to introduce you to my stepmother, and my half brother.”

Within a half hour, Cullen led Angel into the library, where he saw right away Cian was helping himself to his brandy and his stepmother, Edana, milling about his desk. As soon as Cullen and Angel stepped in, they both turned to face them.
Edana came right away to Cullen, embracing him in a hug, “my Cullen, how have you been? I have missed you a lot. You have been gone far longer than I liked,” said his stepmother.

“I have been well and have missed my home very much. I hope you both,” Cullen looked up at Cian, “have been well while I have been away. But one of the great things that did happen while I was away, even though I am to rue the day, is Angel.” Cullen turned around to Angel, holding out his hand. When she took it, he brought her next to him. “I would love to introduce to you, my mate, Angel. Angel this is my stepmother, Edana, and my half-brother, Cian.”

“It is nice to meet you both,” Angel tried to offer with a smile. She knew that she would need to get on her good side and hope that they would be able to become close friends. Angel knew this was the only intermediate family Cullen had, and she did want to make a good impression.

Edana looked at Angel with disdain. This new trollop will certainly not do to be a MacAllister. Besides, she is just a human. How could Cullen choose her? Why would the fates be so cruel to allow her to be his mate? Nonetheless, Edana knew there were ways for them to not work out. She knew right away what to do.

Angel knew from the look upon Edana’s face, that she wasn’t welcomed. But I do have time to remedy that. She may not like me now, but perhaps I can change that. Angel couldn’t read anything from Cian. His face looked like a stone. Sure he is what many would call as handsome, but his eyes held coldness in them. Perhaps they both will need to warm up to me. I will give them a chance, and try my hardest to be nice and respectful to both of them.

“Cullen, it is good to see you. I would love for you to meet someone as well,” said Cian. He turned around and held his hand out.
Both Cullen and Angel haven’t even seen this woman standing near the corner of the room, looking at the books on the selves.

“I would like to introduce you to Catriona. Catriona, this is Cullen, and his mate Angel.”

“Welcome Catriona to my home. I hope you make yourself comfortable,” said Cullen. He didn’t know what to think of her. Is this a new arm-candy? Or perhaps a new mistress? Cullen could never tell when it came to his brother. He went through women faster than anyone he has ever met.
Gavin came into the room, excusing himself, told Cullen that he was needed in the great hall.

“I will be back soon. Why don’t you all take the time to get to know one another,” suggested Cullen, as he placed a kiss on Angel’s lips, giving her an encouraging smile.

Angel nodded, and watched Cullen leave the room. When she turned around, all three sets of eyes were focused completely on her. Boy, tough crowd! “Please, why don’t we take a seat, and I can ask Glynis to perhaps fetch us some tea.” When both Catriona and Edana nodded, she went and asked Glynis right away to bring some refreshments. With that done, she went back and sat on one of the couches. “So I was told that both you and your son reside here at this compound, am I correct?” asked Angel, trying to find a way to start the conversation.

“Aye. I have been the mistress of this household for the longest time and will continue to be the mistress. I make sure everything is being properly run. Cian helps me here and there when it is needed. So tell me something about yourself, Angel. Where could you have possibly met Cullen?”

Angel knew that once she was mated to Cullen, that she would be the new Alpha bitch here which would then include her being in charge of how the compound was run. But with Edana, she couldn’t help but notice how arrogant she was acting, as if I was not worthy enough to lick her shoes clean. “Actually Cullen and I met while I was working at the hospital.” Angel smiled at the memory, “we didn’t get off on the right foot, but we are slowly working on things.”

Edana nodded. “So you are a nurse?”

“No, not quite. I was just in charge of restocking certain items in the patient carts.” From the look she got from Edana, she knew that she just thought of her as lowly. “It was an alright part-time job, while I was still going full time to school. But I suppose that is on hold now.”

“So basically you don’t know a thing of how to run a house or about the pack,” Edana accused bluntly.

Angel was a bit taken back by that. “I suppose you are right. But I am learning new things everyday. Sure my home wasn’t as large as this, and we didn’t have this many members, but I do know what some of the basic things that will need to get done. I am sure that Glynis will help me.”
Angel noticed Catriona staying quiet most of the time, just staring at her. Perhaps she is just shy? “Umm, Catriona, were you born here in Scotland?”

“Aye. I was, just a few villages over. I was part of the Kaerns pack. That is when I ran into Cian. And from there it was history.”

Angel offered a smile. She supposes that they were meant to be. Both of them had kept that stone face expression all this time, but there was a gleam in Catriona’s eyes.

Before she could further ask questions, Cullen came back in. “I am sorry for having to leave. I hope you all found something to talk about while I was gone.”

Angel and Edana both nodded.

“We certainly did. Now if you would excuse me, I have some important house hold matters that I must attend to,” said Edana, as she stood up and walked quickly out of the room.

Cullen looked at Angel, seeing her expression. He knew his stepmother is hard to deal with, but in time, they will get to like each other. “Angel, I have something planned for us this afternoon. Meet me in the stables, while I run upstairs to get a few things.”

Angel nodded, before she excused herself and left outside to wait for him.

Cullen on the hand ran quickly up, and went to retrieve a few items. Again, he noticed how the wall sconces weren’t lit in this hallway like all the other hallways. Someone could get hurt walking down these winding steps.

As he headed back down, he saw Gavin. “Why aren’t those sconces lit near Angel’s bedroom and on the staircase? See to it, that they are lit Gavin. I won’t have anyone getting hurt because of that.”

Cullen met Angel, and she was surprised to see a basket. “We are going to have a private little lunch outing, just to two of us,” said Cullen. He loved the way Angel’s eyes brightened up and knew he made the right choice.

“But what about your family and your new guests? Do you think they would mind that we are gone,” asked Angel. It was bad enough Edana didn’t like her already, but to keep her other son from having lunch with her, may not be the best way to win her favor.

“They won’t mind. Besides, I think we need some more time together alone,” suggested Cullen.
They both rode out into the woods. Cullen had the perfect location for them to have their picnic.

“Cullen, I have been wondering about something. How is it, that these horses can handle being near a pack of wolves? Don’t any of you sometimes have a need to go and snack on the horses?”

Cullen laughed. “Angel, these horses have been on this compound for hundred and hundred of years. Back then, this castle used to have a large amount of strong horses that were bred. Cadifor, as you named my horse, was the part of the gene line that descended from all those years ago. Instead of getting rid of the horses, the pack decided to keep breeding the horses—making a wonderful profit as well—as a way to keep up with certain traditions to remind us how this pack first began here. And I suppose the horses just in a way got used to the wolves. Besides, the pack members know never to go around the stables when they are in their wolf form.”

Angel took this all in. She knew it was odd for a wolf pack to have all these horses, but she didn’t mind of course. She was beyond happy that she would be able to ride a horse anytime she felt like it.

Soon, they stopped at this clearing just below a hill. They had to get off the horses to make it up the hill. As they made it half way up the hill, Angel was near out of breath. This high altitude didn’t help either. She suggested to just slow down just a bit, and when Cullen saw her, he suggested turning around.

“Do not tell me that we climbed all this way and are now turning around because I need to slow the pace. I want to see what you were going to show me. You said it wasn’t far,” and then a thought occurred to her, “or are you lost, Cullen? Is that it? You don’t know where we are?”

The combination of her question and her indignation were just too much, and he laughed aloud. She actually thought he could be lost!
He beamed her a look of delight. “No, love, I am not lost. Nor will I ever be with you.” Cullen didn’t realize how telling those words were until he uttered them aloud. She looked at him with such longing, as if she felt as he did.

“It is just beyond those trees. But I know you are tired so we will turn around.”

Angel straightened her shoulders. “Nonsense. To the trees it is. I just didn’t want to run there, Cullen. While you may not be lost, I would be if I lost sight of you.”

“I would find you,” Cullen said in a gentle but reassuring way. “I will always protect you, Angel.” He completed the thought with a mental promise: You are mine. Cullen felt his whole body tighten with desire.
