What's in a Name? Ch. 02byHelenofTroy©
"Alright, fair enough... who did you come with tonight?"
"Some... some friends. I... I think they left, though."
"Excellent." Bob stopped beside the door to the club and sighed. They were running out of options. "We'll take you to my house then."
"Your... house? But..." Amy blinked, trying to work through that plan as well. "But... how will you... explain that?"
"I'll find a way." Bob nodded and, having decided on a course of action, steered his younger charge out into the chilly night air. He could feel the goosebumps jump to attention all along her arms, and if the circumstances had been different he certainly would have been responding in other ways to her proximity.
"Will... mm... can I sleep in... your bed?" Amy gave him a dreamy smile, and any other time he would have taken her up on it immediately.
"No. I have the guest bedroom made up nicely, you can sleep there."
"Oh..." Amy looked disappointed, but was in no condition to fight with him on it. Instead, she let him guide her to where he'd parked his car. "Hey... hey Bob, those were... some pretty slick moves back there..."
"Thank-you, Amy." Bob smiled and the car bee-booped in response to a button press. He carefully helped her into the passenger seat, making sure she didn't hit her head.
"Where... where did you... where did you learn that?"
"Oh, you know, here and there." Bob smiled blandly at her and keyed the ignition. As the car rumbled softly to life, Amy smiled and seemed to take his vague brushing-aside of the subject at face value.
"Well... good thing... you did."
