Chapter Seven: What Happens After
Mouse stopped and studied herself in the full length mirror. It had been a bit of a risk to dip into her bank account, but the dress was absolutely perfect. It was pale blue, silk chiffon with a scooped neckline, low waistline, and beaded fringe along the uneven hem. The silvery designer sandals she wore were the only elegant pair of shoes she’d ever owned. A silver bracelet of thin, spidery interwoven chains sparkled at her left wrist, and she wore a matching collar-type necklace. With a little patience, Mouse had managed to gather her wild curls to one side and pin them in place so they cascaded down her cheek.
I actually look pretty for once, she thought, brushing her hair from her vision. She quickly pulled some clothes from her dresser and stuffed them into a small duffle bag. As far as her parents knew, she was spending the night at Kara’s. Kara had agreed to play along, for which Mouse was grateful. Her parents would never understand her relationship with Rainer. She was especially glad that they were already at work, and wouldn’t see her dressed up like this. That’s all I need, is dad acting like a jerk again, she thought.
The sound of the doorbell ringing startled her. Taking a deep breath, Mouse walked out into the living room and to the door, pulling it open. Rainer was leaning against the doorframe, grinning. He reached out a hand to her, and she took it, allowing him to pull her out into the warm evening air.
“I hardly recognized you,” Rainer told her as he led her down the driveway towards the limo. “I don’t think I can call you ‘Mouse’ tonight.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Mouse asked as she settled into the limo.
“I mean you look more like Evelyn tonight,” Rainer told her. “You should dress up more often.”
“Ew, no!” Mouse exclaimed, grinning.
Rainer tightened his fingers around hers and pulled her close to him. Mouse settled against him, sighing as his lips nuzzled her neck. Maybe I should dress up more often, she thought, moaning softly as Rainer gently fondled her breasts. She twisted in his arms to face him and lifted her mouth to his. Mouse parted her lips, yielding to the gentle touch of his tongue.
“Maybe you’re right,” Rainer groaned, pressing his cheek to her shoulder. “If you dress like this all the time, I’ll never be able to
keep my hands off you.”
Mouse tilted her head to give him a gentle nip on the earlobe. “Patience is a virtue, Rainer.”
Rainer lifted his head and laid kisses along her throat. Mouse relaxed against the seat, enjoying the feeling of his tongue running over her skin. She heard him groan softly, and sit back, running a hand over his face. Rainer shook his head, as if to clear it, and looked up at her.
“Sorry,” He said. “I’m sorry.”
Mouse smiled. “Don’t be. Just…wait until later.”
Rainer raised his eyebrows at her inquisitively, and she nodded. The slow, sexy smile that spread on his face made her stomach clench. I must be out of my mind, Mouse thought, swallowing hard. But damn it…I think I knew that first time he came over to study that my eighteen years of virginhood was coming to an end. She settled closed to him, content to just be next to him for the rest of the ride.
The prom was taking place in the ballroom of a hotel, though not the same one Rainer had reserved a room at. Still, it was a nice, elegant hotel, and it made Mouse feel a little nervous. I don’t belong in a place like this, she thought, staring wide eyed at the chandeliers hanging from the ceilings and the elegant place settings at the tables surrounding the dance floor. Rainer must have noticed that she was unnerved, because he squeezed her hand gently and smiled at her.
“Come on, beautiful,” He said. “Let’s get on the dance floor.”
“Rainer, I think we’re beyond the point where you need bad pick-up
lines,” Mouse joked, glancing sidelong at him and grinning.
“Hush,” Rainer growled, giving her wrist a tug and pulling her out on the dance floor.
Mouse laughed, even as she wobbled slightly, still a little awkward in heels. Rainer used that as an excuse to pull her closer to him, so she supposed her clumsiness wasn’t such a bad thing for once. The music wasn’t fast, but it wasn’t completely slow, either; rather it was rhythmic and pulsing. Around them, some couples were getting a little carried away. Rainer settled his hands on her hips and glanced over her shoulder, chuckling at something.
“What?” Mouse asked.
“Take a look at Blake and Jennifer,” Rainer told her, spinning them around so she could see.
A little um…over enthusiastic, aren’t they? she thought, watching them grind wildly against each other. They should save that sort of thing for later. Rainer must have been thinking much the same thing, because he leaned his head against hers, stifling his laughter. Mouse caught a look from Blake, an ugly glare that meant he was either jealous of Rainer, or just annoyed because he hadn’t gotten the chance to try and get into her pants. Probably the latter, she thought, shaking her head. Some guys just hit fifteen and stop going, I guess.
*****
Rainer had always liked school dances, but he was glad when Mouse told him she’d had enough. Prom, with things like crowing prom queen and king, felt too much like a competition to him. They snuck out of the hotel, clinging to each other and laughing, as Rainer’s name was called for prom king. Mouse seemed to think it was especially hilarious, which miffed him a little bit.
“What is so funny?” He demanded. “You can’t tell me you didn’t see that coming.”
“No, no,” Mouse gasped, wiping at her eyes. “It’s not…it’s not that. There’s just a…a sweet irony about it…the prom king attending the prom
with the outcast.”
“What, you’ve never seen ‘She’s All That’?” Rainer asked, grinning.
Mouse scowled. “If I looked like Rachel Leigh Cook, I wouldn’t be an
outcast in the first place!”
Rainer pulled her up short before they reached the limo and drew her close to him. He cupped her face gently in his hand and dropped his mouth to hers, kissing her lightly. Mouse sighed softly, lifting her hands to slide her fingers beneath his and grip his hands tightly. Rainer nipped gently at her lower lip, then pulled back, smiling down at her.
“If you’re trying to get me to tell you that you’re beautiful again,” Rainer said. “You need to stop fishing for compliments.”
“I don’t need to fish for compliments,” Mouse retorted, grinning slyly. “There’s one poking me in the belly right now.”
Rainer flushed hotly, stepping away from her. He reached for the door of the limo, pulling it open for her, then climbed in after her. As she settled, she tilted her head, gazing at him sidelong, a slight smile curling her lips. He scowled, but soon he was laughing with her. Mouse snuggled against his side, resting her head on his shoulder, and he put an arm around her, holding her close.
“I’m going to get you back for that someday,” Rainer said.
“Mmhm,” Mouse murmured. “Sure you are.”
He leaned his head down and bit her neck, drawing a squeal of surprise from her. They tussled playfully for awhile, tickling and biting each other, until the limo pulled to a stop. Mouse pulled out of his grasp, still giggling, and straightened her hair. Rainer opened the door and scooted out, reaching a hand back to help her out. I think I’m actually nervous, he thought as he pulled her up. That’s, what, the first time in my life I’ve been nervous with a girl?
“Rainer, this hotel looks expensive,” Mouse said, as he led her into the building.
“That’s because it is expensive,” Rainer laughed. “Haven’t you ever been spoiled before?”
“No,” Mouse answered, grinning. “I could get used to it, though.”
*****
Rainer strolled out onto the balcony. Mouse stood there, leaning on the railing and gazing out into the night. He paused, watching the wind stir her dark curls and ruffle her dress playfully. All right, beautiful, you’ve been standing out here for half an hour, he thought, as he approached her. Rainer wrapped his arms around her and pulled her up against him. She started, then lifted her head to look at him.
“Sweetheart, we don’t have to do anything you don’t want to,” He murmured.
“It isn’t that,” Mouse told him. “I just…it’s just that…Rainer, say my name.”
Rainer blinked. “Mouse?”
“No,” Mouse sighed. “My real name.”
Rainer smiled. He tilted his head to kiss her gently, and felt her relax against him. Lifting his head, he gazed down into her large, liquid brown eyes and felt his heart clench. What have I gotten myself into? he wondered. He lifted his hands to cradle her face, keeping her close to him as he spoke.
“I don’t want you to take this the wrong way. But…” Rainer hesitated, then continued. “I don’t understand it…and I’m not going to question it. So Evelyn…I love you.”
He regretted the words as soon as they were out of his mouth. She didn’t respond at all, merely stood there, staring at him. Rainer could practically see the thoughts running through her mind. She must think I’m crazy, he thought. It’s only been a couple of months since we started spending time together…I spoke too soon.
“Rainer?”
“Yes?”
“Call me Mouse.”
Rainer laughed, feeling his tension ease away. He leaned down to kiss her again…and was surprised by the urgency with which she kissed him back. Settling his hands on her hips, he slowly led her back into the hotel room, walking carefully so that he didn’t trip. There was no way he was going to stop kissing her. She clung to him, her lips parting beneath his mouth, allowing him to dip his tongue inside and taste her. Rainer slid one hand up along her back, finding the zipper of her dress, and pulling it down.
Loosened, the silk slipped lightly over her skin, dropping to bunch where both of his hands were once more on her hips. Rainer dropped kisses along her neck, slowly making his way down over her collar bone, to nuzzle between her breasts. His slid his hands up, cupping her breasts and teasing her nipples through the thin white lace of her bra. Mouse shivered and moaned softly. She glanced up at him from beneath her lashes and smiled slyly.
“Thanks for the compliment,” She murmured.
Rainer chuckled, grinding his hips against hers. His body ached with need. He pressed his mouth to hers again, letting go of her long enough to discard his jacket and struggle out of his shirt. Mouse’s small hands ran along his chest, her light touch making him shiver. Rainer curled his arms around her again and pulled her down to the bed, pinning her beneath him. She mewed softly at the feeling of his teeth gently scraping her skin.
Slowly he made his way down her body, teasing her skin with his lips and tongue. He tugged the dress down as he went, until he could slide it off her legs and toss it aside. Sitting up, Rainer settled himself in the middle of the bed and grabbed Mouse’s hips, pulling her over to him. She squeaked, then broke into soft laughter.
“I don’t want you to regret this,” Rainer murmured, trailing his fingertips gently along his inner thighs.
“I won’t,” Mouse told him, smiling.
As he bent to kiss her, she wound her arms around his neck, pressing her mouth eagerly against his. Rainer slid his hands over her shoulders, along her back, sliding his fingers beneath the strap of her bra and unlatching it. Mouse shivered as the lace fell away, and he dropped his head, his teeth scraping gently over her skin. His mouth worked hungrily at her breasts, suckling and nipping gently. Rainer slowly lowered her back onto the bed, listening intently to the soft sounds she made, gauging the movements of his mouth by the intensity of her reactions.
His fingers trailed lazily over her ribs and down her sides. Sliding his fingers under the waistband of her panties, Rainer pulled them off. His hands roamed over her legs, exploring strong, shapely calves and thighs. Mouse had wound her fingers in his hair, clinging to him as he laid kisses over her belly and hips, jerking slightly each time he hit an especially ticklish spot. Her eyes were large and luminous, incredibly trusting as she watched him from beneath her lashes. Rainer gently pulled her thighs apart and lowered his head between them, running his tongue over soft, sensitive flesh.
He tightened his grip on Mouse as her hips bucked against his mouth. She trembled at the light, teasing touch of his tongue against her clit. Rainer held her firmly, not allowing her even a small bit of movement as he lightly traced her swollen inner lips with the tip of his tongue. She thrashed on the bed, her fingers clenching in his hair.
“Rainer!” Mouse panted. “Please! That’s not…not fair…!”
He continued to tease her, the touch of his mouth almost unbearably light. Her little desperate cries made him smile. She was quivering, getting wetter by the second. Rainer drew his head back, keeping her hips firmly pinned, and glanced up at her face. Mouse’s eyes were heavy lidded and the luminous brown hue was hazed with desire. Not just yet, he thought, smiling to himself. Rainer curled his arm around one of her thighs and held onto her firmly, and dropped his other hand between her legs.
Now, as she writhed on the bed, he teased her wet flesh with the tips of his fingers. Mouse gasped softly as he dipped a finger into her slick opening and drew it out just as quickly. Rainer did it again, several times. He could feel the tension growing in her body, could feel her lower abdomen tightening.
“Rainer!” Mouse groaned. Her voice was low and husky, almost purring. “Please…”
He let go of her, using both hands to carefully spread her soft flesh and reveal her swollen clit. Rainer leaned down and caught the sensitive nub in his mouth, suckling hard. Mouse cried out loudly, her body shaking with the sudden intensity of her climax. A slight trickle of warm feminine honey ran down her thigh. Rainer turned his head and licked it away, nipping her thigh gently as he did. Mouse squeaked, a soft sound of delight and pleasure.
“You okay, sweetheart?” Rainer asked softly.
“Mmm,” Mouse murmured, smiling at him, a little dazed.
She sat up. Moonlight filtered in through the open balcony door, giving him a perfect view of her. A thin sheen of sweat made her skin glow. Mouse scooted closer to him, wrapping her arms around his neck, and pressing close to him. Rainer shivered as she nibbled his earlobe. Her small hands traveled down his chest, soft fingertips tracing little whorls on his skin. He shifted to help her unfasten his pants and pulled them down. Mouse’s eyes widened nervously when she saw him, full and achingly hard.
“It’s all right, baby,” Rainer murmured, catching her hand in his. “Don’t be scared.”
He brought Mouse’s small, trembling hand down to his hard member. Her touch was timid, but curious, her fingertips exploring the contours of the head with a sort of polite delicacy. It made Rainer shiver. She seemed to relax a bit as she studied him, but it only made him more excited. Mouse curled her fingers around him firmly, lifting her mouth to his even as she began to stroke him. He groaned against her mouth, bracing a hand against her shoulder and pressing her down onto the mattress.
Catching her wrist, Rainer pulled her hand away from him. He caught her other hand too, and pinned both of them above her head, keeping her still as he nudged the tip of his member into her slick opening. Mouse was watching him with those lovely, trusting eyes; the look on her face made his heart pound. Rainer lowered his mouth to hers, kissing her lips tenderly. Distracting her with the teasing of his tongue, he thrust forward quickly, breaking through her hymen.
Mouse still cried out in surprise and pain. Rainer let go of her wrists, and she immediately clung to him, pressing her face against his shoulder. He held her close, running his fingers through her hair, and murmuring to her soothingly. She soon relaxed, the initial shock gone, and before too long she was squirming experimentally beneath him. Rainer gritted his teeth; the pleasurable feeling of her tight body clenching around him was almost excruciatingly difficult to bear.
“Are you okay?” Rainer asked softly.
Mouse wriggled beneath him actively in response and he groaned, burying his face against her neck. Pushing himself up and bracing himself above her, he drew out slowly, carefully. As he thrust back into her, he felt her lift her hips awkwardly to meet his. Rainer kept his pace slow at first, drawing out of her nearly all of the way, then pushing back in, allowing her to get a feel for the rhythm. Mouse practically purred with each motion, her eyes heavy lidded and her lips parted ever so slightly.
Her mouth was too great a temptation to resist. Rainer dropped his head, teasing her lips, dipping his tongue inside her mouth for a taste of her. He began to increase the pace of his thrusts, building a sweet friction between them. Mouse kept up with him, bringing her hips up to meet his, drawing him in deeper with each push. The little noises she made were stifled against his mouth and tongue, but still loud.
Rainer could feel her body shivering, close to release. As much as he enjoyed the feeling of her tight around him, he didn’t want to draw her first time out too long; she would be sore enough in the morning as it was. Dropping his head, he trailed kisses wildly along her neck, thrusting into her with abandon. Mouse thrashed beneath him, her moans loud in the air. Rainer felt her body clench around him as she came. He shuddered at his own climax, burying his face in her soft hair and holding her to him tightly.
For awhile he lay still, enjoying the way she clung to him, and the feeling of her breath warm against his skin. Mouse curled her fingers in his hair, rubbing the sweat dampened strands idly between her fingertips. Rainer listened to the rhythm of her heart as it slowed back to normal, and her breath became quieter. Finally he pulled away from her, reluctantly. It had been a long day, and he was tired, although probably not as tired as she was. Rainer stretched out beside her, pulling her into his arms once more.
“Are you okay, baby?” He asked, pressing his lips to her neck.
“Mmm,” Mouse murmured sleepily in response.
“I’m sorry that hurt,” Rainer said. “Next time it’ll be a little easier.”
Mouse turned to face him. “Next time?”
“Yes, next time,” Rainer answered, grinning. “You can’t possibly think
I’m done with you, Little Mouse.”
Mouse’s eyes widened. She broke into laughter, snuggling against him. Rainer smiled, rubbing her back gently, enjoying the sensual pleasure of just being able to touch her. He closed his eyes, feeling the events of the day creep up on him. It had been long, and so many emotions had flung themselves around. Rainer had almost drifted off to sleep when something occurred to him.
“Oh, shit!” He exclaimed.
“What?” Mouse asked sleepily.
Rainer groaned. “We didn’t use protection.”
“Calm down,” Mouse said. “I went on birth control not long after we started working together.”
“Oh,” Rainer blinked. “Mind if I ask why?”
“Foresight,” Mouse explained, pressing her head against his shoulder.
“I kinda had the feeling I was in for trouble from that first night.”
Rainer chuckled. Well, well, well, he thought, twirling a strand of her still damp hair around his finger. Looks like I wasn’t the only one with raging hormones. He pulled a blanket over them both and settled himself once more, feeling reassured. One of the things he really adored about Mouse is that she’d learned to admit things to herself. She’d felt the same way he had, had accepted it, and had taken responsible steps. Rainer was used to high school mentality girls and she was such a nice change of pace.
“Thanks, Mouse,” Rainer murmured.
