I like to leave some room for the reader's imagination. Physical descriptions are generally avoided, so that the reader is free to visualize him/herself and that special someone as the players in the story.
I also like to leave a little bit of a mystery to myself. Stories may be written from a male perspective, a female perspective, or in third person.
