1/8/13: I just found out from a reader that Lit took chapter 24 down. After investigating, I discovered it's because I "promoted" myself in a note at the end. I don't know what their rules are exactly and my comments were similar to others I've seen on Lit. I've removed the paragraph that points people to look at my bio to find my web address and resubmitted, so hopefully this version will fly. 11/8/12: Doh! Someone just pointed out that half of chapter 1 is missing! Sorry about that--totally my fault. I submitted an update that was missing the second half. 10/15/12: I'm sorry it's taking so long to get chapter 23 out and that I left you with such a cliffhanger. My beloved editor, Lin M. Hall, passed away on Wednesday from cancer. He never did get 23 back to me so I'm on my own with the final edits. The editing is not really what's causing the delay -- more that I have not been in the mindset to do it. If Lin were here, he'd kick my ass. I miss you, Lin.

10/27/11: Thank you to everyone for the feedback.

As my story gets grittier, I thought I'd provide you with a view into my mind. One of the reasons I write is to teach. I want to help others avoid some of the mistakes I made. I got into the drug scene as a teenager and know how alluring it can be, especially when you're inexperienced and bored or feeling unwanted. Luckily, I had people around me who cared about me and I made it to the other side more or less in one piece.

I won't give the story away--you'll have to read it to find out what happens. I hope you'll bear with me through the trials that my characters go through and find some inspiration along the way.

Please continue to let me know if I'm entertaining you well or letting you down. I won't always write what my readers want to read because I think there are things that need to be said. But I truly appreciate all of your sentiments (I'm still laughing about the tripe and onions!).
