My stories are 'first-person' narratives with dialog. They have the limited point of view of the 'narrator' [main character]. Characters are relentlessly carried along by events, which they are powerless to stop or change. This produces unexpected surprises.
My age is significantly higher than eighteen, but that category is not relevant to writing. Proofreading of my writing is done aloud by a text-to-speech program. The added colons [between dashes] at the ends of some of my lines produce a pause for smoother read-aloud by the computer.
