The Ring

1989

She was a gentle child

with a shiny smile

Her eyes glowed in

both the sun and

moonlight

Her hair was soft

like the downy

feathers of a chick

When all the guys

saw her they immediately

feel in love

She was showered

in expensive gifts.

Then one day

she got a different type of gift

The gift was a ring

Now this ring wasn't made of gold

nor silver

It was made of flowers woven

together to make a ring

It fit perfectly

on her finger.

Then the war

began

He didn't want to go

But the gov't told him to do so

He bid her farewell

and went away

to a land faraway

That day was their last

embrace.

One day while crossing a river

in that faraway land

He was killed.

Upon that sameday

She died giving birth

to a small child

Who would never know

how much they loved her

and eachother.
