Simple Reflections

In the twist of a sentence and the bat of an eye
Things changed drastically between us
And I could see it in your smile
And felt it in your tender touch as you pulled me close

Words fail me and I am at a loss
Where I can usually express myself beautifully
All I can do is smile and feel and tremble
Beneath the loving scrutiny of your gaze

I am content lying in your arms
Lost in the comfort I find in your presence

Only a surge of hopeful anticipation on my part

With each passing moment and beat of my heart
It is as if I can feel your own in return
And such joy is mine to be reassured
Of your returned feelings that overpower any doubts

Such fools we are to have let this build

Instead of running endless circles in search of what you have given me

That instead of this girl that I present to you now
