Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

Seems I’ve searched a life time
Always looking for that once in a life love
I didn’t know then what pain this could bring
Would cost so much, could destroy so much.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

Oh what joy it was to finally find you,
Like a child who smiles when catching their first snowflake,
Overwhelmed and giddy, like getting their first puppy,
So happy that even in the rain, they only see the sunshine.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

Every smile, giggle, touch and caress held so much
The clouds, the stars, the moon all began glowing brightly.
And the past became the past, drying up all the tears
While the future now had meaning and you became that for me.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

I’m sure you thought me silly, perhaps even a bit strange
For having never felt this way that I couldn’t get enough
While you had found and lost a love such along time ago
How could I expect you to remember what how wonderful love felt..

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

What I wouldn’t give to have you feel the same
To see yourself through my heart and eyes
Revealing and giving all that is me to you
Chasing away your pain and tears with all the love that is me.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

But life as you know is unpredictable, and we have so little time
My hope of what once was a dream come true for me
Would melt your heart and becomes yours too
And maybe it would have, had you known how precious time was.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

So if you think I’m sad today when perhaps you catch a tear
It just might be the love I found with you leaking out again
For all the things that I see in you, blessing my life with you
And allowing me the chance to love you, if only for moment.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

Don’t blame yourself for being you or not seeing what might have been
If time had been on our side, I’m sure we would have risked all for such a chance
But please forgive me, I could have told and shown you I loved you so much more
And promise when love again may call, you’ll take a moment remembering you made a dream come true.

Did I tell you how much I loved you, today?
Did I show you? Or did you notice?

tammi, tammi, tammi...

Do you realize that there isn't one line in this poem that isn't a recycled phrase? Putting them all together in the form you chose is interesting. Yes, it is a functional poem, it works, but those things have been said so many times, in exactly the same way, although not the same structure, that it almost feels plagiaristic. Of course, I know it isn't, but when reading this poem it does give you a sense of the deja vous. Suggestion, possibly take each line of this poem and rewrite it in a way that makes the point but uses imagery to portray the feeling instead of stating the exact feeling straight out? That might be an interesting plan of attack and I'd love to see what you come up with.
