Click heresitting on her suitcase by the side of the highway
she crosses one long leg over the other
letting her beat up sandal drip from her tiny foot
she takes a long drag from her cigarette
and lets the smoke pour lazily from her mouth
as the cars speed by she waits patiently
for a ride or absolution
whichever gets there faster

WickedEveover 19 years agoAs I was reading this, I was anxious for it to have an ending that would leave me satisfied. I could just feel this poem building to a substantial ending, and it wasn't a let down.
