Foolishly, I fell
hook, line and sinker
for the silly fable
of everlasting happiness
and one true love
but would never allow the possibility
it could happen to me
always in the back of my mind
I saw failure looming
the boat capsized and sinking
until that day at water’s edge
I saw you standing in the sand
and as the river flowed into the lake
so you replenished me
surged into me, fed me
stirred my stagnant spirit
stood beaming like a lighthouse beacon
welcoming me home to familiar shores
lit up my horizons
became my destination
my final resting place

I can't believe I'm the first to comment...

Great poem!

My only overall comment is do you have any idea where I can find someone to 'stir my stagnant spirit'? ;-) Excellent choice of words throughout the poem.
