The turkeys were feeling great frustration,
Another Thanksgiving was drawing near.
"What we're needing is a Turkey Nation,"
A gobbler groused "We deal with this each year!"

This old gobbler got them all together,
And they gobbled about plans and notions.
They all liked the fall time weather,
But cursed mankind for crossing that ocean!

"What we gotta do" gobbled this leader,
"Is to frustrate their cannibal instinct!
We gotta boycot all of their feeders,
And make ourselves get skinnier, I think!"

This idea was good but THIS old bird,
Didn't know about the taste of BIRD meat!
He got his message out but, what I heard,
That old gobbler made a REAL FEAST to eat!

Since then there's been no unification,
And all the gobblers look out for theirselves.
It was a really SHORT Turkey's Nation,
And that's why you find turkeys on the shelves!!

talking turkey...

Turkey Nation is a reminder of how the blind follow the blind.

And where most birds are surprisingly smart

The turkey looks to have ended up

In the shallowest possible end of the gene pool.
