sometimes my brain floats in a fog
crossing a stream on a slippery log
forecasting the future, reminiscing
things I have, things I’m missing …

sunshine of morning, moonlight of night
getting it wrong, getting it right
what would I be if I weren’t being me
if opened my eyes, what would I see …

you standing there, smile on your face
or looking askance, as might be the case
wondering who, this person might be
or perhaps I suit you right to a T …

just as I am, just as I stand
circling the airport ready to land
mixing my metaphors, brain waves coalescing
just one of the croutons, or the salad dressing … ?

There you go ~ we're all just one of life's croutons.
