I thought of you today,
cupped things I would say to you and secreted them in my pocket.
The words
"I miss your company."
settled next to my keys,
something I don't want to lose.
"I hope you're okay." gets covered in lint
and is hardly legable anymore,
it attracts every stray and worried thought.
"Come back soon."
Finds a hole at the bottom and falls out
it rolls across the street and down into the drain.
I crouch down and stair at it.
It's out of reach.
I know I will hear from you again,
when you can.
When your life eases up,
I thought of you today.

Like fumbling for change

and finding a twenty! Very nice, Willow.

There are some spelling errors, but maybe that enhances the linty feel!
