Click hereReality divided, diminished, dimmed
to serve some fabled moral purpose
grows grotesque, guilt-culled, grim distortions
to accommodate a longed-for sanctity
Reality partitioned into sacred and profane,
mind and body, matter and spirit,
dream and real, erotic and non-erotic
'til unconnected parts obscure unconstructed Truth
Reality is punctured, beaten, flattened
to fit. To fit in, to be part of your owned wholeness
that lies shattered, scattered,
in myriad categorical compartments, you pine.
Estranged from reality, nature, even the womb that bred you,
you suck up the pablum of designer society,
estranged ultimately even from yourself,
in a world grown insensitive, bereft of the courage for life.
Denial in duality becomes banality;
suppressed sensuous a source of suspicion;
miss-shapen accommodation a grotesque distortion;
reconstituted truth a lie that hangs in the air about us.
Wanting simply to belong,
we drown united in imagined needs, delirious longings
to quieten angst, to soothe the aching alienation
from a lost innocence where everything was part of everything.
When we know that everything is in every thing,
perhaps we will find the joy of accommodating love.
This is your best--images are created and vivid--there is a lonesome howl here that all of us can relate to--particularly excellent is: the pablum of designer society and the second to last stanza.
This piece is an interesting search for meaning, and I was searching for it too - locating it in the patterns you established then abandoned as you moved into a new phase of thought. I enjoyed the concrete concepts that emerged from the abstracted vision of the whole, and could almost 'see' a life represented there.
Reality divided, diminished, dimmed/grows grotesque, guilt-culled, grim distortions/ Here you set up a pattern DDD, alterate line follwed by GGGG. Two comments, be careful of taking it past three (GGG) would have been better, and if you had maintained it throughout the poem on a semi-consistent basis, it really would have been something.
