Must be in the way
they hold it – perhaps
by the legs or tail,
the wrist turned just right
as joeys swung forcefully
against a vehicle…
or even
with a sharp instrument
on the very small, hairless
decapitated young.
Find them in the pouches
of dead female kangaroos
clinging to a faded
warmth -- all according
the department environment guide.
For the adult kangaroo
a shotgun at close range –
the blast preferred,
considered the proper
conduct by government
code.
