garish dreams
princess in pink
half flayed skull
exposing half rotted teeth

grotesque makeup
painting skin of pallor
fading fading fading

it comes to me
light through the cracks
swirling mists
piercing my pitched cocoon

shaking
the facade returns

blonde locks
fall over wet shoulders
and glistening breast

i want to collapse
wishing to weep
worrying a cry
rend myself of femininity
strip clean the weakness

but salvation eludes
like a snarling coy dog
slipping my reach
mocking my grasp

tears don't fall
sadly nor do i

reaching for a towel
the shower ends
a daily ritual begins
and i sit....

my vanity claims me one more day

Very nicely done, this tale of dark dreams and a morning ritual. Had to read it over after coming to the end with its ah-ha moment. Quite clever.
