and now you have gone
to a friend,
you say,
and trust me to pour water
into the bucket of that innuendo.

the bucket is of tin,
reused bicycle fenders, hubcaps,
teeth fillings. cavities find holey

places easily, as a filling may know
a cavity. you leave me to believe
the friend of whom you speak
may contain a cavity,
that you may aim to fill it

as water into a bucket.
and now you have gone
(to a friend,
you say).

Some holes can't be filled. Very nicely done.
