I want to dance,
loose in limb
free in spirit
hips as open as a prayer
back like a reed
bending to the rhythm of the music.
My fingers long to open
palms outstretched as if the air could be shaped
eyes closed
head back
throat open
body white hot with light.
The ground,
the beat,
moving up from the soles of my feet
along the bone and sinew of my thighs
through my cunt
bursting open in my heart
lifting my head
light as a balloon
and devoid of thought.
There is only motion,
only the heat of the body
and feeling what it is to be alive.
