When our love is a waning moon
that trails its toe in velvet sky,
sweep its glitter into a spoon,

exhale with lovers' moonless sigh,
and hold your thumb to what is missed
that trailed its toe in velvet sky.

Here is a girl who is needing kissed.
You know by the way she pouts her lips
and holds her thumb to what is missed.

When our love is a silver slip,
knit slowly fuller, spidersilk fine.
You know by the way we pout our lips

when our love is a valentine.
Blotted lipstick swells night's cheek
knit slowly fuller, spidersilk fine.

Every month when moonlight's sleek,
the night wind hungrily will croon
of blotted lipstick on night's cheek.
Sweep its glitter into a spoon.

Apart from the form

which is great, and well (and cleverly) handled, the imagery is stunning, too.

I especially love the hungry night wind.

Sighness

I completely agree with Hmmnmm in both review and comment. Dora, you've rolled out another beautiful piece for us- I don't know how you do, but it's such a gift to read. It's Christmas morning all wrapped up, along with excited butterflies and happy expectation. It's just, well, glorious, really. Thank you.

what a privilege

bedtime is around the corner in time, but being tomorrow is my review day thought I'd check and see if anything's up yet, in the New Department. And wow. What beauty this is. Rich and alive and... and... well I'm practically wordless. Certainly look at it again tomorrow and will certainly highlight it. This is theft-worthy. Absorbent. Thanks.
