I saw a Blue Heron
along the shore
watching the water go by

bait fish were jumping
the water was splashing
the heron didn't seem to mind

the blue heron was still
the scene surreal
like a soldier standing at his post

The sky was blue
clouds were white
I sat and watched from along the coast

he turned his head
then stretched his neck
and peered with his dark eyes

I saw a Blue Heron
along the shore
watching the water go by
