There are songs, happy songs, to be written
But those words would die on my tongue.
Like an apple that's flesh has been bitten
And that rots in the branches, still young.

I hear words, careless words, that were spoken
By a voice sounding strangely like mine
Laughing promises soon to be broken
But the betrayal was by your design

You coaxed dreams, sprawling dreams, of tomorrow
In sweet golden drops from my lips
Knowing full well I would borrow
From heaven or hell to eclipse

All your teardrops (false teardrops!). For your beauty
I sold off my soul, for your smile
I made all your biddings my duty
But you deceptions were masked only a while

In my thoughts, trait'rous thoughts, I still wonder
If I'd do it again all the same
Knowing your spell, would I still fall again under
And willingly suffer again?

too hard

You are too hard on yourself: we are only flesh, at the whim of emotions, which is just as it should be. And your soul? It only feels that way. Love it, thank you
