The village sleeps in cold secrets
Pulls tight against the chill
Home again
And shivering
I came to solve
And grow pathetic in process
Sense of self is paused
On my knees
And yet
Still not down
Send your rage
Spit your wrath
Spill your bitterness
Down my open throat
I will not break
I am well raised and equipped
You would be proud
Not that it matters
Roles have changed
Earlier than expected
I still don’t shake in the morning
