The one who knows
dates and times and
dark contemplations,
who has charted
my transformation,
who discerns
my secret identities?
Why are you here?
I did not see you form
a shadow
behind me, as I face
the light, and
build another new beginning
for myself.
Why have you chosen me?
By chance, or by design?
Are we two halves of one life?
One soul?
Do we share a voice?
Are we friends?

This poem touches a nerve in me and that is what art should do.
