A Mexican bride in a southwestern storm,
engulfed by the moisture
of a late night monsoon.
Warm, wet drops adhere to the flesh
of the desert. Violent licks
of lightning explode through the window
revealing her silhouette on top of my stomach.
Electrifying screams vibrate the walls
of the room. Her slick skin slips
beneath my rising body. Liquids quiver
and run into rivulets of murky waters
washing through trenches of collapsing
soils. The rigid plants thirst for relief,
their roots spreading out to greet
the oncoming rains. Holding her ankles
to the flashing skies, she stretches
to reach the height of the storm.
Hot torrents of rain shudder above, as we
writhe inside the cloud-tearing shocks.
