Efficient forestry, new tracts of wood
laid out quite regular, dressed
to the nines. No more those
rough fields; even the paths
run straight. These days ask
different measures, they hold
no truck with the old disorder. Strict
control will be evident everywhere -
benighted fools. Beyond the new
dull regularity old trees, gnarled
and leaning; on the leayers of
old leaves broken twigs, loose bark,
a fallen bole. Fungi take over from
the planners'hands and taint
any effort with their brushes: time
and wind and rain are on our side.
