on the eve of first snow
a alpha snow promised
only with percentages
a probable possibility

I’ve grown too old for snow
other than to admire the utter
whiteness that it covers
a hue only nature seems to master

it seldom stays longer than a guest
slowly receding into the shade
or in great balls of shrinking snowmen
marking the grave of another winter
