Why repost?

Edited too match the writing quality of Pt. 5. Made a really good Pt 1 that much better this time around.

Pity...I was expecting ch. 6

But found this repost, instead...

A Nice Beginnining

marred by several spelling, grammatical and factual errors.

eg. Khan not Kahn

Gurkha (or Gorkha) not Ghurkha

Dera Ismail Khan not Deri Ismail Kahn

Sir Oliver and Lady Mantel not Sir and Lady Oliver Mantel

P&O is the name of a shipping company (still existing) and not the name of a ship as implied in Eastern Comet beat P&O

The Martini Henry entered service around 1870. The East India Company (John Company) lost its governmental role in 1857, the Company's Governor General becoming the Viceroy.

WOW

What a great start! In one chapter you kicked off the whole story. Your prose is as clean as a whistle. Great job editing the first part. A whole world better than your last story. Congratulations!

Thanks for taking the time

The Rifle

What you have described is the Lee Enfield .303, having trained and used it many years ago. I think that my intake in the RAF were about the last one's to use it on basic training. A great weapon. It was said that an experienced man could fire off 15 rounds a minute and that on one of the first engagements of the 1st World War the Germans thought that they were up against a machine gun.

Still my favorite story on Lit!

Felt like returning to this story once again.... still the best on the site! I thought there was a fourth story at one point but that maybe you took it down for some reason. Regardless, you're still at the top of the heap of authors.... more please!!!
