i mentioned this poem in the new poem review thread in the poetry forum - wildsweetone

The same sort of thing happened when I witnessed my mother crossing over. I realized that life was not about materiality, though things can make it seem better and easier. It is about what lies beneath, in the heart and in the soul.

I love the poem, but the one line that is singled out should go. It seems lost, misplaced.
