Wonderful, WONDERFUL! Why did it have to end? I wanted it to go on and on. So well written. Characters developed with such care. Brought back so many pleasant memories of my high school days and the pain/joy of unrequited love. (But it turned out *I* was the valedictorian.) <p> <p> <p> You are a gifted writter and I look forward to reading more of your wonderful stories.

Quite a nice story with two excellent characters. I would love to catch up with them again say 4-5 years down the road. I also enjoyed the irony of your story being set in an airport - like the video for the noted C&W song. The video is one of my all-time favorites and I am in love with the young lady who appears in it. Say, didn't the artist also do another song "Love of My Life" whose video followed the two characters from the original? There's a starting point for you!

well written ... realistic characters, great dialogue, and even better sex scenes. you did a good job of maintaining the focus of the story and conveying the emotions of the characters. nice romance between adults who respect each other.

Oh how we all have a wish to try and live the past all over again and change for the better and not remember the past we have just gone through. Fairy tales in the light blue sky will not be true tonight - but in stories we can live out our fantasies and dreams that have slipped by.! I loved this story. It's one of a handful of stories on Literotica that is written very professionally. I can tell the author put a lot of thought into describing the passion and the need of these two individuals for each other and not just the sex scenes--although those were pretty depictive too. Undoubtedly I'll be reading more works from this author.

This was one of the best stories I've read on literotica and I've been reading for years. HLD truly has a gift for characterization, believability, detail, voice. From the first beguiling 80s reminiscences to the flash forward ending, this story keeps you hooked with details, honesty, and just plain damn good writing.

This is truly a special story....even as a regular short story....The irony , the descriptions, the characterization...I am very impressed!

I love this story. It's so realistic, with great characters, good pace, and such caring and tender loving. Brilliant!

Hmm you did a great job! I love how realistic everything is- not because of how unlikely it is, but because of how realisticly the characters speak, live and act. The background info of the characters is highly possible for people like Melanie and Kevin to have. I think you captured the past cultures pretty well (Asian and highschool cultures/values), and your references to the 1800's are amusing and true. Melanie's partial failure to live her highschool dream simply makes everything more realistic. And I really like the fact that Mel refused Kevin's offer. I hate it when main characters end up together happily yet inconclusively. I love happy endings- and prefer them, actually- but endings that don't even make sense frustrate me. Anyways, you developed your characters well, and the sex was pretty good, although M&K (their new nicknames de moi) seem to sleep a little too much (but then again, I understand that M is in a tough, tiring time in her life). I like the romance between the characters, but, other than their highschool histories and current sex, you lack a bit of details. I think if you add a bit more of a twist and plot, you can improve your story. I would also have liked to see just how M had gotten that ring on her finger. Maybe you'll explain it in the sequel? Also, there was a small contradiction when M said that she and K were apparently "best friend[s]," when other parts refute that statement. They may have been friends in highschool, but definitely not BFF's. And they couldn't have been so during a 3 day period. Oh well. Okay, now onto the grammar. You did well for the most part (and your editor), but you still have several mistakes, mostly of pronouns. Oh, and repetitiveness is a bit of a problem- no matter how small. For example, when M&K were having sex, M "squealed in delight" about three times. I understand that 3 times in a 5.2 page story may not be a lot, but it still bothered me. Regardless, you did a pretty good job, and oh, I LOVE how your main female character is Asian. Not many Asian protagonists in Literotica (well, unless if you search it up in "Tags," I guess). So nice choice :)

it did sting a little when i read the part where melanie was telling kevin abt her sexual experiences (it was the EXACT same way for me) and had me wishing i had my own kevin LOL...what you wrote about what most women want - not someone to take care or control them - so true but there are days when being taken care of is what will make us feel special and appreciated and cared for and loved...wish more men understood that.

But then, it does happen occasionally, and this time it was destined to be one of the best possible reunions (and stories). Your title is correct--some things really are meant to be.

I'm a 52 y/o Male, Ex-Marine and I loved this story; but was completely thrown by the ending. They separate at the airport; then all of a sudden are back again "together"; WTH happened in between?

I'm hoping that's where pt# 2 comes in, so that's where I'm off to now

Every time there is a big winter storm, such as right now, I like to re-read this story. It's a wonderful story. Kevin and Melanie are easy to identify with. Everyone must follow up with the second story, "I Want To Be In Love."

I enjoyed reading this one, buy not as much as "Impersonating Brianne".

Me I see it as two people that finally the stars,planet, the time is just right for Mel to realise that Kev has loved her all this time and being the A type person that she is will not admit it to him much less her self that she loves him as much as she does.

Was it fate,karma or just that the time was right for them to meet again. Kevin loves her even more than he did and Melanie will not admit it to herself or Kevin that she loves him and she has just come to realize this in the last two days of a whirl wind love affair. It looks like it was/is a blessing for Kevin and Melanie also but her being the A type personality it was/is a lot harder for her than the laid back easy going Kevin to admit that she loves him as much as he loves her if not more. A great story of love separated by time and there meeting is like something that had to happen just when and how was/is the under lying factor.

It is one of my favorite stories of all time and it is in my favorites. I urge you to go ahead and read the second story about them it is just as good if not better.

These two stories are tied with Colleen for the two best love stories. In my favorites read numerous times never tire of them. A nerd in love with the popular girl. Me knew he loved her and she loved him but her being an A type personally keep them apart until she finally realized in the next story I Want To Be In Love that it was ment to be. Them meeting and stranded because of a terrible Snow Storm was it something that was predestined,Karma or just dumb luck. Take your pick but I pick #1 and #2.

Another outstanding story from this author. Written with a very artful touch. I am now hurrying to the subsequent story about these two absorbing characters. Bravo.

A modern version of Prince romances the poor but beautiful girl. With the added touch of the nostalgic feeling from those formative high school teen years brought back to life in the person of Melanie Nokamura. By top-notch writing skills with good dialog and great portrayal of emotions. Impressive.

Not my first or last read of this fantastic love story. Finally nearly 20 years later he gets the woman he has loved for so long.

My only comment is that her language during sex seemed out of character for her. Oh, and the gap in the story was quite big and sudden. 5*

Chance meeting that started a great love story that two souls that were meant to be together. Kevin with his life long love for Melanie and Melanie a young woman who finally realized that they were soul mates and were meant to be together. Story was well written and had great characters.

Beautiful story with a few minor occurences that felt a dissonant to me. Melanie is described to be always in control. Therefore, and because it seemed selfish, she wasn't fond of the rigorous fucking her ex- husband practiced on her.

So our two heroes indulge in some lovemaking, but later, AFTER Melanie spills her guts about the way her husband used her in bed, she tells she wants something different- which is to be taken hard? I don't get that portion. I also pity 30somethings that think in black and white about ANYTHING, because almost nothing is just on or off, in this case the "controlling" issue, as if you are either complete in control or not at all. Those kind of childlike views and notions spoil a story about presumably mature people for me, especially if those views translate into behaviour/actions.
