PPS: Adrian indeed passed away on the same day as his brother when informed of Julian's death later in the evening.

I loved this ballad like poem. It can well be converted into a song.

"but vowed to have their pennies spent / on Sundays after Lent / to sin if you could call it that / on one banana split..." I found this extremely poignant.

I can almost hear Bob Dylan of the 60s/70s crooning this in his typical style... :-)
