Your story hits home, I got out of "vacation land" minus a leg, 3 fingers, and a ear. But my real problems have just started in the last ten years----Type 2 diabetes, hyptertension, degenerative disks, bad knee joint, fibroid growths, etc. The VA says that exposure to the different agents have nothing to do with my problems. But I don't believe them. My son had problems all of his too short life and my daughter has problems carring a fetus to term. Would I serve again, yes, but I hope to God no other soldier ever has to face shit like this. Thanks for telling our story.

Just some food for thought.
I was of age during Vietnam, but was never drafted. Was classed 3A and my board had enough 1A's I guess.
I have degenerative discs, blood pressure is getting higher, so on a pill to control, no diabetes, although tests show blood sugar is rising. I was never exposed to agent orange at all, so my issues are age related like a lot of people.
How much of these age/occupation,diet issues are attributed to agent orange and why? My understanding is that the residue of agent orange can be detected in the body years later.
Just sayin.

They told us it was just poison to plants - that it was safe enough to wash our hands in and not to worry about it! For the last 30 years I been paying for those lies!! They lied to the GI"s in the late 40"s and early 50's about the atom bomb tests - just dig a slit trench and cover it with a poncho and you would be safe from alpha and beta rays - ja, but nothing was said about the gamma rays that would go completely through a 50 ton steel tank!!! There were 1000's of family's that were never helped about that ! Welcome Home Brother!!!!!

Because I know what the moral will be. And I agree. I was a soldier of another country and in another place and I was shot at only once. But I still have a fear of my goverment. Not as much as you but still there. There was another story on this site where one of the commenters said that nobody should be elected to political office unless they had been in the service especially under combat. I absolutly agree. They may know nothing about domestic policy but they will know a lot about sending someone else off to kill and die for them. I would rather have that than some local manipulator who can't even point out the countries on a map. I am a total supporter of soldiers whether they crawl, fly or swim. you all serve your country. End of rant. I like all of your stories PTB so please don't be offended. Thank you for them all. Jim
