When an author starts making a decision for their characters (in my opinion) then we aren't writers anymore, just puppeteers . I see authors as an outlet for the characters so their stories can come to life on parchment so to say. Life isn't always pretty, but it is a journey. We take the good with the bad and how we rise up to face it and the choices we make, define us, why should it be different for the characters? You give them breath and from there, they will come alive, and share their lives through your words. :)

What I absolutely love about this story, and the small series you have started to build... Is that the reader is left wanting so much more, and for once I wasn't just sitting here wiping up a pile of man goo from my hand, computer desk, and chest like usual... No this time I was left with my mind wandering to thoughts of fantasy realms and to thoughts of where will they go next and what will they do...

I know that this series may not last long and that most of the LIT series on here only make it for the first two or three chapters... I pray that this is not the case and that you build up this story and you make it a long and worthy read. You have already crafted for yourself a very wonderful short story that has left my mind aching for more. What more does the soldier and priestess get themselves into, does the soldier rebel against his General, does the priestess become a wife of sorts to the soldier... All of these questions are circling my head and I love the insights we were given. You have a true gift for the use of language and I most definitely enjoyed. Thank you. Five well earned stars.

You could do with a little more world building and describing the surroundings but the basics of the world are really well set up and the various scenes are a delight to read!!
